New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hello dolcevitarn,

i got your PM i wanted to send you a reply but i found out that i cant send a private message until i have 15 posts. hope to hear more from you..i don't know how to send you a reply. :sniff:

by the way, is it ok for ur to post a website link here in this forum?

Aelith, hiya! (or anyone else who has an idea=))

Just want to ask.. what would happen if i will send my application without my board certificate? would an explanation letter stating that the release of it is delayed be sufficient? and that the certificate will just be sent later on when I get it? what happens when I will send an incomplete application:crying2:?

thanks for the website,, got it, its clear indeed..

actually, the reason i pursued that curiosity is that, what if i obtained my Australian license (but flew back and live for awhile in our country, for whatever reason), then i am wondering what visa i would apply for that would allow me to go to australia to find work as a nurse.. in this case, my idea is i would obtain tourist/visitor's visa and upon arrival in aus, find work, then file for 457 working visa once i got an employer.. i just dont know what will i declare in the aus embassy of the purpose of my tourist visa application, ya know, that im just a tourist and not there to apply for job..

anyways/./.

Hi! what if you secure already a job in oz before going back to the philippines? that way, when you go back there you will already use your 457 visa instead of applying for a tourist one? :D is that a sane reply? tehehe!

Hi cioman 94!

I don't think I can go to Davao soon. I was just wondering, is it possible for you to photocopy the materials then send it via LBC to me? I will just pay for all your expenses plus your own charges.. I hope it won't be so much of a bother to you.. If that's not possible then I will find another way.. thanks a lot!

Hello!

I really need your help guys esp. those who got an approval from Queensland Nursing Council. QNC returned my application and the attached documents because according to the council the notary public did not notarized properly my documents as certified true copy. May I ask did your notary public notarized your documents? Can you please share with me how did the notary public stated that the document is a certified true copy.

Hi! sad to hear about your papers..

btw may I ask if it took more than a month for them to assess your papers? from the time you submitted all your papers to the time it was returned to you, how long did it take?

with regards to notarization, i read in the past threads that you have to follow exactly what the required format for notarization the QNC adviced..

Certified Copies

Each copied page of an original document mus bear a statement certifying that it is a true copy of the original. This certification must be in english.

Individual who can certify must be one of the following:

Justice of Peace

Commissioner for Declarations

Notary Public or solicitor

When certifying a document, they should include:

Date of certification

Name of individual certifying the document

signature

contact address

phone number

I hope that helps..:paw:

Hi rnrn07,

I am new in this site. Actually, I was trying to contact meow meow, but i do not know how. I applied with ANSM last April and right now, I am done with all my exams and modules. I also do not have work experience. As of now, I am awaiting my booking for the 160 hours training and my visa . After which, ANSM will assist me into being registered as a nurse in Australia. I just wish that 2 friends who are also in the same stage, will be assigned in the same area.

ANSM have been very helpful from the start and they assisted me from the documentation to application to exams and assignments. Who would have believed that it will take me less than a year and start earning P200k? I am sooo happy.

Btw, paging MEOW MEOW. We do not pay the consultancy AUD$1000 because we do not have experience. If we have experience , the hospital will sponsor the amount for the working visa , if not we have to pay for it . buhu.

I hope I was able to help.

hi grape. how many modules did you take? is the exam difficult?

I took the competency exam, but unluckily I was not able to pass the Professional and Clinical part. I had to take 1 module and the computation part of Clinical. The module of Clinical will be done in Australia which is 160 hours with a clinical instructor in a hospital. Awaiting for my schedule.

Hi grape. I just took the exam last Wednesday. I have a lot of questions:

1) You said that you took the module. How long did you complete the module?

2) Do you have hospital experience?

3) Are you doing your 160hrs of clinical in a hospital or a nursing home?

4) How long did it take you to book for the competency assessment?

5) How long did you receive the materials for the module?

Thanks for the prompt reply. Good luck to your career path.:wink2:
