Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
I would assume you are referring to AIN or PCA jobs and not Aged Care RN. If it is AIN, then it will not be credited. There is such a thing called Aged Care RN. Working in an Aged Care facility doesn't necessarily mean you are only going to work as a PCA or an AIN.
hi aelith (or anyone), could i ask for your opinion (if we do have same point of view)..
"volunteer" and "training" no matter how long or many years or months, are not counted as "experience" per se.. thus, some nursing board will not accept you if you do not have "experience".. in QNC, we could obtain license even without "experience".. Also, i believe in salary category, i would receive the lowest or starting salary because i have no "experience"..
let us say i already got my QNC nursing license, and let us say i have 1-2 years of "volunteer/training" duty exposure..
when i apply at a prospective employer (without regards to salary category), how would they look at me in terms of skills? i mean, would they look at me as a skilled nurse considering my years of volunteer/training? in this way, could i proudly sell myself and convince prospective employers that i am a clinically skilled nurse in view of my volunteer/training duties?
hope you could share your thoughts..
hi lecna can you tell us how the notary public notarized your paper so we would know what's wrong and then we can identify it if they do the same to our documents. thanks
hi xysy25! according to QNC the notary public has not stated that the original document was sighted. the council is very meticulous in assessing the application and the required documents.
Dear rlssem,The exam has 4 categories. Professional, Cultural, Legal and Clinical.
We need to pass 80% per category. Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply...
so i guess, professional and clinical categories of the exam are really difficult...how about the 2 other categories?
were all of the questions multiple choice?
thanks a bunch...
hi grape, may i know how did you arrive with the P200K figure which i assume means monthly salary of P200,000.00 ?
...im just curious because the minimum annual salary of beginner RN is around Aus$43,000 (excluding overtime, extra pays, etc.), in terms of hourly rate it is about Aus$22.00 per hour for beginner RN, based on 48 hours per week then your weekly pay is @ $1,056.00 so for 4 weeks you earn @ $4,224.00 (in peso @ x P32 = P135,000)...
gross P135,000 per month, less taxes about P27,000...
yes thats right, the figures that you gave is more or less the salary of a begginner RN in australia, and each year it will increase, since it will be considered as an experience...a full time nurse in australia can work of up to 40 hours a week...and if you decided to work extra hours/days specially weekends, you will surely make money, like working for agencies during your free days in a week...and working in an afternoon or a night shifts will incur pm and night allowances plus uniform allowance...and if its weekends, you will be paid an hour and a half per hour (ex: weekday rate per hour $23; weekends- $31.50)...plus if youre a regular/permanent employee of a hospital or nursing home, a lot of benefits can be given such as free gym membership, free seminars, free hep b vaccine etc...
btw, how much is your review materials?
thanks for the clarification.@grape how long did it take before you finished the professional module? is it hard? how do they assess if you have passed the modules or not? do you have to do assignments? essays? quizzes? research?
thanks!
Dear rlssem, cioman94 and xysy25,
Sorry to put you all together. I do not know how to attach the original message with my reply.
Anyway, I will try to reply to all the questions.
Salary: well, i plan to work some overtime. From what I know, there is an added $48-52 per overtime shift aside from the 1.5 or 2x the rate. hehe
Exam is multiple choice with 2 fill in the blanks. As to our reviewer, ANSM consultancy provided us (me and my brothers) with many review materials when we applied.
As I mentioned before, I finished my Professional module in 1 month. The grade would either a pass or a fail. We were told to present our assignments to the consultancy before submitting them. Buti na lang because there were some corrections and errors as to proper referencing.
Hope these help.

Hi! grape, I'm new here, I'm planning to apply to ANSM. I just want to ask will they also help you to find a job in AUS after you become registered nurse in AUS?Hope to hear from you. tnx
Hi Angelski,
From what I understood, they will refer to us hospitals or nursing homes at no extra charge. Hospitals contact them because they know a lot of nurses go through them.
My friend is set to fly next Feb 2009. She already has the confirmation of the hospital. I am awaiting mine in another hospital. All of us wanted to be together in the same area, but it was not possible. Anyway, all 3 of us will be in the same country by then. haha

Hmm... just curious.. why 48 hours per week? The normal actually is 38 hours/week and beyond that should be overtime I think. The 43k AUD per annum rate applies to 457 Visa holders as minimum. But if you are to compare with the ongoing rate, say for example in NSW, for 2009 it'll be around 49k per annum (base rate - excluding penalties and allowances, etc.) for an entry level.
As for the 200k... maybe it's based on the previous exchange rate? hehe.. maybe when it was still at 40ish/peso? But then the basic rate would still not amount to 200k gross per month... Add a lot of overtime and penalty rates for afternoon and night shifts then maybe you can get that amount. But tax would eat up a bit of it too anyway.
