New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

does anybody here came from asnc council? need your help please

by the way I tried to contact them to ask a few details about migration and bridging program, and also asked them if they already have nurses working Australia after passing the bridging program and they told me they had none at this moment , what was that? right now Im kinda skeptical about this whole thing

yes i know but i think before they will implement it, all things are already sorted out, i mean the original plan of implementation was earlier than 2010, but because things just dont go right, they sort things out and i think in 2010 it will be ready. well, yes PRC in the philippines is like immitating a snails pace but we dont know it will be different in Australia. I reckon australian registration process would be different from the philippines. It's Australia not Philippines...:D

did you register for the bridging program directly from australia?

did you register for the bridging program directly from australia?

what do you mean?

i have lodge my applications already...QNC and NBV.

i never said that you said that it will be like prc-philippines, but since you include pRC as an example, i used PRC too as a good example only.

yes thats expected. every regulatory board will have different stories...its them who are opposing for it to be implemented because they want their boards to remain, but the nurses here in australia are the ones keen of it to happen.

well, just like what the nurse supervisor told me, it will really take effect in 2010, and if there are problems that will come along the way, the national board authority will fix it. learning by mistakes.

it was expected to be implemented earlier than the target date, but its just very premature to implement it...so they adjusted the time frame and i think they already have enough time to settle things out.

i have visited some of the boards website, and it stated their 2010 is the target year, to be more specific, july 2010...

but like what you said, it will be chaotic at first, but as the time goes by, i think it will run smoothly.:D

btw, are you happy for this to be implemented? me? i am...ehehe.

Yeah, actually it is stated in the NSW site that it will be implemented July 2010. But when I asked them, they said they are not sure lol.. But anyway, it seems that all we can do is wait and see; expect for the worst but hope for the best.

I can't really say I am happy about it. Honestly, I'm a bit hesitant about it. I'd rather it be implemented after I finish hhahaha.. but if its meant to happen and if they believe it will be for the better then I guess it's ok. As if we have any choice lol... oh well :)

help, im an rn working here in the philippines, today i just received an email from the nmbwa they said i need to submit a verification of current registration in order to complete my application. i've already submitted my verification of initial registration from prc where can i request for the ver of current registration?.

Eeeeep... i don't know anything about that. wow sis you're always updated. anyway, i don't know what will happen in the future but i really hope we can all settle our issues first before they implement that rule. I guess it will be harder for overseas nurses specially new grads and those with no experience to find a job or even take the BP if this will happen. I hope they can delay its commencement by 2010 or 2012. atleast hopefully we are all settled by then.

Haha.. I just wish that in time everything will turn out ok for us all. :)

yes...myself sent applications to QNC and NBV...so that would be alright if you send heaps of applications.theres no law or rules that prevents you from doing it.:)

I was referring to the way my lawyer notarized and certified the papers. I was asking a while ago if it is okay because my lawyer did not place her contact number. and you said it depends on w/c state so I answered QNC and NT is it okay to have that format

in QNC, they are strict when it comes to certified photocopies. you must include the pertinent details such as contact number, address(office will do), license number, date, and signature. and you might just do the same way for NT to be sure and safe...:nuke:

were you the one who send the verification to nmbwa? or have you requested prc?

yeah sis you really need the contact details of the notary public, so my advice is just go back there and ask for their contact details. I'm not too sure about this but i think you can also write the details down all by yourself. (im not so sure though)

It's better to pay attention to even the tiniest details on the application just to avoid further delay afterwards. (coz if they really need the contact details and you dont have them, chances are they will return it back to you) so best thing to do is have the contact details ready before you submit your application.
