New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Anyone please? I am also interested to find out...Another question, I understand that BP providers require immunization to certain diseases, what if the applicant has HEPA.B or TB, will he or she be denied of the application to a BP provider? Does anyone have any idea on what the stand of the BP provider is regarding this?:uhoh3:

i dont know if you already had your tests on hepaB and TB.. i suggest that if you have budget, better have the tests to relieve yourself of unwarranted worries (as what happened to me when i worry for such hx when there was nothing to worry when i had myself checked)..

one thing im a bit sure is that, having TB would really be unfavorable to you, and even if the school accepts you assuming you have TB, the Aus. Embassy most probably will not grant you a visa because of that TB..

hepaB, im not so sure..

also hepaC will be checked by the Aus. Embassy.. remember that there is no vaccine for hepaC, so either you are infected or not.. hepA is not that a problem because it is not a chronically progressive disease, that is why they do not include it in the list..

and yes, i just had completed my vaccinations with that doctor as recommended by drednag, walang aray.. i did not have my hepA shots though because it is really expensive..

good luck to all..

Thanks Cioman:) I guess i was just too excited to go to Australia that I dont want any further delay with the application process. Im still waiting for my letter of eligibility from AHPRA. Did you repeat all your vaccination? I hope you dont mind, how much did you spend anyway:)?

does anyone here know which application form are we supposed to download from AHPRA? Is it the General Overseas form (AGOS-04) ?

THE CV is really a nose bleed ! I wish I didn't declare I worked before !

why did you say that you wished you didnt declare your previous work?

Hi guys, I emailed the College of Burwood in NSW, couple of weeks ago, and got a reply today, they said that they will accept my eligibility from NBV, too bad their program will commence this September, I'm too late, they don't have 2011 BP dates yet, so I'll just wait..

I also emailed the NSW schools that AHPRA gave as accredited course providers, but only Burwood has the 3month program, the others offer conversion

Thanks. I am about to mail my application to AHPRA. have you mailed yours? What did you put as your third party / nominated party on section I on no. 29? Anyone please. thanks..

Hi I just want to share what I did with my CV... I included the hospital rotation when I was a nursing student, luckily I kept every dates.. anyway I think you don't need to worry about it.. just include the name of every hosp. that you done your internship/ affiliation and attach your RLE.. Are you applying in Victoria? Where are you planning to apply your BP?

Hi bekimon, i dont think its too late. They will start late September. If you have your papers and money ready, you can still make it. The visa only takes a week for the processing of 457 if your medicals are already done.

if you already have a student visa or have already paid and applied for student visa, there is no need to change it.. it is also acceptable to have student visa for your BP.. the crucial thing that you should check is that the length of student visa granted to you should be more than the length of your BP schooling.. example.. if BP is 90 days, then your student visa should be 90 or 100 days.. the longer the better because its better to arrive 1 week prior class day and you need time after BP for registration processing and job hunting..

besides its good to have a student visa because you can work part time unlike 456..

i understand your excitement because that's also what ive done, im now monitoring my hx and lab results prior the actual med check up of oz embassy.. nagpa Xray na me, and hepaB and HepaC check up.. im hypertensive so im already taking my HPN meds.. we are doing the right thing..

You should have a shot on these:

MMR and INFLUENZA @ P3000

DPT (Adacel) @ P1800

Varicella Vaccine (if you didn't have chicken pox before) @ P1500

if you had chicken pox before then the doctor will just certify it..

Hepa B..... you are a nurse, it would be funny if you did not have Hepa B vaccine until now, i assume you already receive an immunization on this... therefore, you just have to spend for lab check up HEP.B ANTIBODY QUANTI and present this to the doctor so he can certify about your hep b antibody status..

Hepa A.. P1500 for the first shot, the 2nd shot i think is 6 months later, so another P1500.. i didnt have this yet, nway its not required in NSW..

I didn't include the Polio vacc because NSW does not require Polio vaccine record..

On my own prerogative, i went to a pulmonologist, to have an Xray and get a pulmonary clearance vis-a-viz TB concern.. no tuberculin skin testing done because we will be false positive because we had BCG when we were still cute babies..

drednag recommended me that immunization doctor.. the pulmonologist was just my own artistry (kaartehan ko lang)...

hope this helps.. good luck..

Congrats to everyone that are on their way to the BP:w00t:

I hope you guys keep coming back here to this forum after you've successfully finished the BP and landed a job. We need all the inputs we can get:redbeathe
