New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hey, there, here in Davao, I went to Dra. Torno for the immunisations..but I think I've discussed this with cioman already.

As for your question, salmonella..I am really not sure if that will have an effect on your application, better inform them and ask directly.

As long as the Certification states that you have had the immunisation and/or history of the disease, I guess it's good to go..there really is no required form for it..of course, the doctor has to state his/her license number etc, the usual information they disclose in medical certifications.

These are just my personal opinion, though..it would be best if your check with others with more expertise on the matter.

Just keep kewl, guys!!! all the best to all of you!!:rckn:

Anyone please? I am also interested to find out...Another question, I understand that BP providers require immunization to certain diseases, what if the applicant has HEPA.B or TB, will he or she be denied of the application to a BP provider? Does anyone have any idea on what the stand of the BP provider is regarding this?:uhoh3:

i dont know if you already had your tests on hepaB and TB.. i suggest that if you have budget, better have the tests to relieve yourself of unwarranted worries (as what happened to me when i worry for such hx when there was nothing to worry when i had myself checked)..

one thing im a bit sure is that, having TB would really be unfavorable to you, and even if the school accepts you assuming you have TB, the Aus. Embassy most probably will not grant you a visa because of that TB..

hepaB, im not so sure..

also hepaC will be checked by the Aus. Embassy.. remember that there is no vaccine for hepaC, so either you are infected or not.. hepA is not that a problem because it is not a chronically progressive disease, that is why they do not include it in the list..

and yes, i just had completed my vaccinations with that doctor as recommended by drednag, walang aray.. i did not have my hepA shots though because it is really expensive..

good luck to all..

HI guys! does anyone here have heard of

i guess that would depend on your HepB profile wether its actively replicating or not. Nurses with HepB can work, double gloving and all, be assigned in low risk areas

oh, ok, i thought its a must that i get the student visa for the BP, thanks doza:D

do you know how much is enough showmoney for the 456?

Hi, I suggest better get a student visa instead of a business short stay 456, in a student visa your period of stay will be longer let say 6months on the maximum of 10 months even though your BP is only good for 3 months.

Advantages:

- enough time to look for a job

- you don't have to apply for another visa to extend your stay.

- work rights

- usually in your cover letter for you visa application, state to wave the no further stay condition, because you need time to process your registration with the nurses board and look for possible employment.

- show money for a 3 months bp P350k to P355k.Though your period of stay will still be 6months.

-except if the education provider is not CRICOS registered then you have to apply for the business short stay 456 visa.

This is just my point of view i hope this helps.

I am transferring to a new accommodation, I am renting a house now (250au/week)3bedroom2bath a modest one. Finally i am ecstatic my family are here.:yeah::redpinkhe

To my colleagues in the profession set your goal and make the first step to your Australian Dream.

Yeah, but the question is if that person with the Hep B needs medical attention, should the Australian taxpayer be paying for it? thats why they want to know everyone that comes here is reasonably healthy. Do they require everyone to have health insurance, if they do, if you have Hep B does the insurance cover it, when pre existing.

the key clause as what ceridwyn mentioned is that, the Australian healthcare system should not be burdened with migrants with health problems.. that's why migrants should pass the minimum health requirements..

Thanks drednag, I thought there is a specific form for the immunization certificate. Did you have to repeat the vaccination which you have already acquired when you were still a pedia? how much did it cost you?:)This will somehow give us an idea. I really appreciate your feedback.
