Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
dont know the answer... OMG!is this how tedious the application form is!?
Whew!!!
liaa, pls answer...
...tell me about it...:) that's why answers in this forum are sooooooooooooo helpful!
it says in the app form that if the answer to question 17 is a yes: "one must provide evidence." if it's a no: "one must arrange for evidence of successful completion of a board approved english language test to be provided directly to the board by the testing authority"...i'm guessing i should tick the "no" box (?)
Here in Australia we do 7 years at a primary school then 6 years at a secondary school where we study english and actually pass a very tough exam on it in Year 6 at high school. At this stage we are up to 13 years of schooling before we enter university. At the end of our secondary schooling we must sit an english test, along with other chosen subjects this is part of our examinations for university entrance. Then we go to university that means we enter university at 17 -18 and will not finish our nursing course until we are 21 -22. So you see we do far more schooling in english compared to the Phillipines.
So therefore if you have not done at least 13 years of school instruction in english and have not done a higher school certificate passing the english exam you have not completed university entrance for a nursing course, the answer will be no and you will have to pass IELTS at 7 all round in one sitting.

if you already have a student visa or have already paid and applied for student visa, there is no need to change it.. it is also acceptable to have student visa for your BP.. the crucial thing that you should check is that the length of student visa granted to you should be more than the length of your BP schooling.. example.. if BP is 90 days, then your student visa should be 90 or 100 days.. the longer the better because its better to arrive 1 week prior class day and you need time after BP for registration processing and job hunting..besides its good to have a student visa because you can work part time unlike 456..
thanks for the reply.. My visa will expires on Sept. 2011 I am hosping that I can do the BP before my visa expires.. The problem is AHPRA told me that it will take time to get a reply from them because they have back logs of papers... anyway I am happy to renew my student visa.. Have you done your BP?

your visa expires Sep. 2011? not 2010.. 2011 is far from now, you'll have you're BP done by then.. the AHPRA backlog is just temporary, hopfuly will normallyz soon..
i have oz registration already... im in a job hunting mode.. sometimes in good mood, sometimes in bad mood, as of today im in confused mood..
good luck to you and all..

im in the confinement of our home here in my nativeland... when AHPRA started, my IQ about BP went down becoz there were lots of changes.. dont know much about BP starting july 01 as compared to prior july 01.. i did not undergo BP, outright registration based on the old rules (not under the new rules)... im a lucky jerk:yeah: and im pushing my luck with my job hunting now..
Hi I just want to share what I did with my CV... I included the hospital rotation when I was a nursing student, luckily I kept every dates.. anyway I think you don't need to worry about it.. just include the name of every hosp. that you done your internship/ affiliation and attach your RLE.. Are you applying in Victoria? Where are you planning to apply your BP?
Hi Abhy..yap I just included my RLE attached to my other credentials. i intend to go for ETEA in Victoria because my bro. lives in Melbourne. But for now, I am still waiting for AHPRA's Assessment. Im trying to call AHPRA but I cannot get through AHPRA's number. have you mailed yours too?:)
Thanks Cioman:) I guess i was just too excited to go to Australia that I dont want any further delay with the application process. Im still waiting for my letter of eligibility from AHPRA. Did you repeat all your vaccination? I hope you dont mind, how much did you spend anyway:)?
i understand your excitement because that's also what ive done, im now monitoring my hx and lab results prior the actual med check up of oz embassy.. nagpa Xray na me, and hepaB and HepaC check up.. im hypertensive so im already taking my HPN meds.. we are doing the right thing..
You should have a shot on these:
MMR and INFLUENZA @ P3000
DPT (Adacel) @ P1800
Varicella Vaccine (if you didn't have chicken pox before) @ P1500
if you had chicken pox before then the doctor will just certify it..
Hepa B..... you are a nurse, it would be funny if you did not have Hepa B vaccine until now, i assume you already receive an immunization on this... therefore, you just have to spend for lab check up HEP.B ANTIBODY QUANTI and present this to the doctor so he can certify about your hep b antibody status..
Hepa A.. P1500 for the first shot, the 2nd shot i think is 6 months later, so another P1500.. i didnt have this yet, nway its not required in NSW..
I didn't include the Polio vacc because NSW does not require Polio vaccine record..
On my own prerogative, i went to a pulmonologist, to have an Xray and get a pulmonary clearance vis-a-viz TB concern.. no tuberculin skin testing done because we will be false positive because we had BCG when we were still cute babies..
drednag recommended me that immunization doctor.. the pulmonologist was just my own artistry (kaartehan ko lang)...
hope this helps.. good luck..
Thanks Cioman for really taking time to answer my questions.:) The vaccines that you have mentioned are quite expensive but all in all i think it would be all worth it especially if it would give us a clear picture of our health profile and more so if it would mean a brighter future for us nurses wishing to work in OZ. I just hope there is Med Rep here who could give us a cheaper price.hehehe!
