  1. I work at a cardio thoracic unit wherein the surgeons feel like gods! They are by far the worst surgeons on all the departments that we have. I really love my job but they just make it so difficult to go to work sometimes. My personality is that I keep to myself and avoid confrontation. I know I should change but I just don't feel as if I'm experienced enough to reason out with surgeons. I'm young and have just been in the OR for a year and in the cardiac specialty for 2 mos. They know I'm new and they're picking on me.
  2. I sincerely love my job, however, there are just some surgeons who are complete ***** and treat us like were second class stupid citizens. How do you deal with surgeons like this?*everyone else in my job are lovely - nurses, techs, etc..
  3. Does anyone know if there's a differential pay in new york hospitals?
  4. Hi krivera! How did you find the course? Im interested in being an rnfa too... How was the mentorship like?
  5. I too would also like to become an RNFA. However, after reading this I kinda got discouraged. I am an RN in australia and have a post grad diploma in perioperative nursing. I wish to become an RNFA when I move to new york, however seeing that I wont have many connections there I might have difficulty getting a job. I am very interested in the work though. I like the idea of assisting surgeons because I like to "get in there" and not just circulate. I have a fair it of experience in scrubbing too because here at our hospital we do both
  6. In applying for CVS.. in my understanding, they verify that your documentation are correct, so they would need the actual registering body to send the documents. is that right?
  7. If i am registered in 2 countries, do i have to fill out 2 verification of registration forms for each country? Thanks
  8. So the visa screen is needed ONLY if I already have a sponsor for my working visa? Will all the steps listed in the first post will lead to an NY license? Or is the visa screen the last step for gaining an actual license number?
  9. Im in the exact same situation as you. I have a question though... after accomplishing all the steps you've listed, will that lead to a license already? do i still need to undergo visa screen after doing all these? thanks so much
  10. do you guys not feel that the procedures are repetitive? for example, having memorized what to do in a certain surgical operation?
  11. hi all! i would just like to know what made you guys decide that you want to become a perioperative nurse. how did you know that this is the speciality for you? :)
  12. this was the Competence Assessment Service offered by Queensland before. But sadly, this has been discontinued.
  13. Is there an iphone app of an aussie drug handbook?
  14. @ haydeeting: yes it could be possible that you were assessed as an enrolled nurse, not as a registered nurse
