Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!

"We have been informed that those individuals who applied to the NBV but did not gain registration prior to 1 July will be receiving a letter from the Victorian office of AHPRA to reapply to meet the eligibility requirements of the National Law. If an applicant had already paid money to the NBV and was receipted for this they will receive a waiver for the AHPRA fees. However if an applicant did not have their monies taken/receipted by the NBV then they will have to pay the appropriate AHPRA fee.
We understand there are currently 130 NBV applicants who were not completely processed by 1 July and these applicants will receive notification from the Victorian office of AHPRA that they will need to reapply using the AHPRA application forms."
confused...
Maybe what that article meant (the 130 applicants) was us?? I mean, me for example. I submitted an application to NBV last June but NBV wasn't able to assess me before July 1. So now AHPRA sent my docs back because I have to re-apply but my application fee was waived. Same for mikyong, liaa and salmonella. So maybe the article was pertaining to those like us, not to those who received their eligibility letters prior to July 1. Right? Maybe what they meant was "applicants without eligibility letters"? I mean, I know it clearly said "individuals who applied to the NBV but did not gain registration prior to 1 July" but its just so saddening because these people have already started looking for schools for their BP and have planned for their Visas and all...
Okay okay I'm sorry I'm being emotional but now after reading this article it just made me more confused. Apparently (as of now) no final decision has been made regarding overseas nurses/applicants. So I'm wondering ... in light of this article, what's the best thing to do now?
if this is a game show, i think sweet_toothache has a point..
what do they really mean? are they referring to ALL who did not gain registration prior 01 July? or just those who did not obtain an eligibility?
at any rate, a lot of things are developing, and we should remember that the said statement was from ANF, a "second hand" but reliable information.. hopefully the official statement or letters from NBV/Ahpra Victoria itself will clarify things up..
According to the bulletin by the Australian Nursing Federation, which by the way is our union, 130 applications were not yet processed under the easy NBV board specifications.....these will be assessed under the new National board.
Those that have been processed and were assessed by the old NBV board and have received their whatever you have to do letters to become registered, do just that and after doing the requirements will then apply to the National Board to be Registered nurses.
I am not an employee of the National Board but it is plain simple english to me, what the statement says.
"Those who weren't registered'" to stop the confusion with anyone thats ESL they should have said, 'those who were not registered or assessed for further study'".
Hello everyone. I just mailed my application to AHPRA yesterday, AUGUST 5, after they returned my application from NBV. Let us see what happens next:uhoh3:. I am just praying and hoping for the best. I think i just need to move on..LET US NOT LOSE HEART. Let us treat this as a challenge and be positive that we can hurdle it..Lets continue supporting one another and believe that GOD WORKS IN WONDROUS WAYS! right, liaa, mikyong and sweet toothRN?:)
