New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

so what if your RN in Philippines and a have a degree?

Its useless that in Australia and New eland US and UK....wake up!!!!

cant you see? all of you have to undergo some sort of supervised placement or induction programme to supplement that Degree you think its precious! ...UK,US,NZ canada is not a refugee centre to all of you of having difficulty in finding a job in the Philippines ok?

Ask your president why there isnt enough job available,?

Its your problem...open your yes people!! tighthen immigration policies and employment opportunities its because of this anticipation of grand anticipation of migration especially Nurses from Philippines?

Okay, just let greatking say whatever he want. Let him talk as much as he can. But my only advice for everyone else is to ignore him. We all know that he is being unreasonable in his way of talking; replying to him will just make him reply again and again. Let him blab all he want but just completely ignore him. I am not sure if moderators can ban him but the point is, he can always make another account and so the cycle goes. His way of talking just speaks for how he is as a person.

We all know that we have a choice in life and that the advice or whatever that is greatking is giving is just another opinion out there. We will always find people like that anywhere and all we can do is not to let him/her affect you. We all know the pros and cons of whatever choices we have, and there will always be risks in everything that we will do - there is no such thing as sure success even for those experienced ones. We will all start somewhere and where one will start is entirely up to the person. If it doesn't go the way you want it to be, move on and learn from it. That is just how life goes.

And with all honesty, I know quite a few people who started with zero experience in UK, Australia and in the US and other countries as well. Although, this may not be everyone's success story in the end, the fact is, it is possible.

The best way to make someone change his mind is to give him facts and intelligent unbiased advices. That way, the person can see a clearer picture. If you want to discourage people from going anywhere apart from their own country without any experience, then try giving them facts why. A good example would be if the Country will never accept inexperienced nurses - if that is the case, then everyone will have to stay and get some experience. But give a quoted part of the law that says this. Or another good example that we all are aware of, is the US retrogression.

Another thing, no matter how much blame you put on the government, it will never change a thing. The point is there are just not enough jobs for the graduates in the Philippines. The number of inexperienced nurses grows significantly every year. The situation before is not the same situation now as the number of nurses is really becoming absurd. There is really no solution done at the moment and add the fact that the government doesn’t have enough money to cover for the healthcare budget, the problem will stay. Those who have the money and the means, try other options – options outside the Country.

I wouldn’t even dare say that those who will decide to take the risk and try their luck outside, will just end up having a miserable life or will just simply fail in the end – that will just be plain stupid to say or even assume. There will always be a chance; it is neither success nor fail only given specific situations. It can be either, depending on how the situation goes. As long as there are countries accepting inexperienced nurses, there will always be a chance. Immigration can only do so much, but they will not completely shun those without experience especially when their governing authority accepts it or licenses those without experience.

However, always keep in mind also, that although there is a chance that you might be successful, there is also a chance that you might fail. That is the risk. If the person is willing to risk, let him/her – it is their choice. Just because one doesn’t want to follow an advice, doesn’t mean that person’s choice is wrong. They have their own right to choose whatever they want and no one has the right to decide for them. Mocking people and talking them down simply shows jealousy. Jealousy for those who can make it without experience unlike how you have to go through all that before you can finally stay in UK. :)

As for greatking, I dare you to present me factual arguments about why one cannot even consider going abroad without experience and to talk to me intelligently, only then will I entertain you. If not, then I am sorry but I am just going to ignore you from hereon.

Actually, I do have plans of sharing the review materials, I just need to finish my exam first. The reviewers are quite many and I don't think i can outline all that in one sitting. They are also photocopies only so if you make another copy of it i'm not sure if it still be that readable. Plus, im not in the Philippines, i reside elsewhere. Anyway, i will inform everyone once im done with my IELTS then i can start reading the books.
