New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

i emailed qnc yesterday. i received response from them and they found my license verification from the philippines. the response was:

"thank you for this information. the verification from the philippines has been matched to your file and will be assessed today. we will send correspond by post regarding the next stage of your application."

i feel so relieved.

Just ignore him.

nursing is already my 2nd course.. i have successfully accomplished much what i "ambitioned" to be in my 1st course, thus, im no stranger to hardwork and success, ive been there.. and there is nothing wrong if i "ambitioned" to be successful in my nursing career, as matter of personal choice.. i'll be fine.. i just pity other young and fresh graduate who reads your uncivilized post, and maybe discouraged of being successful because of your post.. i know the difference between reasonable ambition and unrealistic dreaming.. reasonable ambition is what made me successful in my 1st career and which i will utilize in nursing career..

thanks for answering my question. I would also like to ask NurseMavi if it's the same with WA? :nuke:

I have read too that you need to have at least a year training/experience to do the bridging course in hollywood hospital.... I have read somewhere in this forum the number of hours needed but I can't remember the exact # of hours. is it 1,860 hours?

The registration policy of QNC is different from WA.. you're other comments are correct (i.e. experience)..

basically in WA, you initially apply for assessment, afterwhich when you are approved, you now enrol in a CAP in any of the 3 schools/hospital..

NZ nsg council requires 1 year experience..

IELTS score of 7 in each of the 4 module (overall score: 7)

Bridging program is normally 6 weeks, costing around NZ$5,000 but it varies on what school you will be enrolling..

Total expenses will be cheaper if you don't go through an agency.. thus, it would be around P245,000 - P350,000.. of course higher if you go through an agency..

btw, 2nd coursers are not accepted by NZ nsg council except if you took your nursing course for 4 years even though it's your 2nd course..

okiez..:nuke:

you know what greatking, I have been reading your post and you such a mean person. Do you have to be that rude? You come here and tell people what do. Are you OUR BOSS? Don't tell people what to do here. We are here to help each other and we don't need someone to boss us around.

Don't educate you? OH MAN! You should not be in this forum but in school instead to learn some good manners. Or maybe ask others to teach you some good manners because obviously.. you have not learned it well.

We do understand what you are saying because we are not stupid. maybe you are the one who does not understand what we are talking about.

and before you tell people what to do... you might as well check your spelling first.
