Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
But there is still a limit as to the number of visas that will be issued per year, it is never an unlimited number. And there are many more that wish to work there than there are going to be visas available. It is called supply and demand. And something that everyone needs to be considering.
And the fact that economies are getting bad all over.
I think everyone is aware of this and that is why we are all trying to do something now than sit and wait for a good time. Yes, the visas are limited but it doesn't mean we are not going to be granted one if we try and apply - in the first place, nobody ever claimed visas were unlimited, it would really be stupid to think that IMHO.
No matter what country one would go to, there will always be a competition regarding visas - no matter how good and stable the economy of that country is. It is also never a "sure-thing" for immigration but this doesn't have to instill so much fear in people because the fact is everyone has a chance to be granted a visa. Everyone is aware of the simple logic of supply and demand, but we have no choice but to compete with everyone else to get what we want - that is just how its going to be no matter what.
The main point here is, everyone is just aware of these simple facts and doesn't need to be overly stressed over and over. I just don't see the point of emphasizing those too much as it is something "expected" or "normal", as it would only instill fear and/or confusion to some. No one will ever get anywhere if they would only look at the bad side of the picture. And while it is good to know the bad side, the facts being stated here are nothing new. In addition, the chances you had before may not be available next time - simply put, opportunities will not wait for us. It would be wiser to try now and take the risk for that chance, rather than take the risk of hoping that the same chance will be available when and if the situation gets a whole lot better.
Lastly, I would like to reiterate the following paragraph:
Action your plans - Nothing will happen until you act.Don't wait until everything is picture-perfect before you make deliberate movements to see your dreams materialize. Start now - Where you are and with what you have. Accomplishing your dreams is a journey. You must start it with the first step. But if you take baby steps, everyday, it would amaze you how much distance you've covered in time.
my cousin has 15 month experienced as a nurse, and she only needs ielts in order to get a student visa for her 6-month bridging program on February next year (study and work) 9000 AUD...i think this is the best option rather than to take the challenge test. she will be trained at royal brisbane

Hmm... I am not really sure what you mean by that being the best option. I am not quite sure where your cousin applied - is it in Brisbane or somewhere else? I am not aware of any 9000 AUD bridging program in Queensland for that matter.
Challenge test is actually the cheapest option there is. It will only cost you around 600 AUD or so. And the good thing about it is, you will do the part a in the Philippines and 1 day clinical in Brisbane - which ultimately lessens the living expenses for your entire stay in Australia as you only have to stay for 1 day or 4 weeks should you fail Part B. Also, it is by far, one of the fastest programs.
I received a letter from QNC today. Though I already fowarded all the necessary requirements including my IELTS when the time I applied, they are requiring me to verify my license. Well, I have requested PRC to verify my license before I even forward my application to QLD. I am not sure what license are they verifying since it is not specific in the letter. They may want a verification from New York State since I have forwarded a copy of my New York license and Parcel as well. And I am actually working in a healthcare outsourcing company based in the US. So we actually cater to US patients. But I am in the Philippines. I have already e-mailed them to clarify what information are they looking for. This is actually delaying my timetable. I am actually planning to take the exam by December this year. I will also need to check with PRC if they really did forward those verification. I'll be needing the tracking numbers. I'll update everybody on this. (just venting out my frustrations)

thanks for the constant reminder.... be we know this already. you have said this million times in different threads.
Hello everyone,I just sent all the needed documents to the QNC , since i am still here in the philippines how long does it take them before sending me their acknowledgment letter? is it through email or snail mail? Thanks and God bless us all..
Acknowledgment letter is received through postal mail. You should receive it around 1-2wks. Just to clarify acknowledgment letter is just a letter informing the sender that the application has already been received by QNC. If what you meant is the eligibility letter, the council does not give a specific time for this as every application is assessed individually, Well this is according to them. but as of this time usually its 2-3mos before you can receive a letter.

As far as I know, you need all your licenses to be verified. In example, PRC will verify your Philippine license and NY's regulating authority will verify your NY license. But you can double check with them regarding this.
for those who applied in QNC and is given the "go" signal to enroll for CAS (is it called the eligibility?).. I want to know if there's a validity date for that letter... for example ... from oct 27 2008 to oct 28 2009... wherein you have to enroll during those dates or you forfeit your eligibility. just asking heheh.

Hi xysy25, let me answer your question. I emailed the council before regarding the same question and from what they said, it's like once you are granted the eligibility, (btw i just used this term to stress the difference between the acknowledgment letter and QNC's approval letter to take the CAS, sorry. ) you are given 2yrs to finish the whole program. Be it the Education Module or the Challenge Test.
Its like this, for instance you received your eligibility to take the CAS on October 2008. Your next step is to register for your Test A. If you wish to delay your test A and you want to take it by January 2009, it's ok provided that you have to finish Test A and B before October 2010.
You also have to consider that if you fail your test A and you need to take the Education Module of the subject where you failed, it should be completed within the two year period that was given to you.
As for test B, as far as i remember, you have to take it within 3 months after you passed your test A.
This is based from my conversation with QNC few months back, around May to be exact.
