Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
since 01 july (recent pages), we have adopted and started discussing in this thread the new rules of australia/ahpra which would serve the need of "...filipino nurse wanting to work in australia..". we hope to address the concerns of fellow fil-nurses who want to obtain nursing licenses and jobs in australia.. peace..
hi doza, take a look at the new ahpra application form for overseas nurses. it says(under section e) :
"the cv should describe your full practice history and any clinical
or procedural skills undertaken. the information contained in
your cv will further inform the board in relation to your recency
of practice and registration history. your cv must:
* detail any gaps in your practice history of more than three
months from the date you obtained your qualifi cation
* be in chronological order
* be signed and dated by your employer (i.e. in the past 5
years) with a statement "this curriculum vitae is true and
correct as at (insert date)"
* be the original signed curriculum vitae (no faxes or
scanned copies will be accepted).
it must also contain all the elements defined in ahpra's
standard format for a cv."
hmmn i have sent my application form before the transition, but i am anticipating that nmba would ask me the cv too, not sure though. the info in the form seems confusing to me because they did not mention in their cv sample format about the signatures.
that part really confuses me..can somebody please explain the signed and dated part of the cv?:confused:huhu
Hi, After getting my employment and our 457 approved, my family will be joining me next month here in Adelaide. I am very excited to meet them at the Airport. Since i started my BP i have not seen them for a while.I just wanted to share to fellow nurses, that to make your "AUSTRALIAN DREAM A REALITY" you have to invest and make the first step towards your goal.I wish to meet more Filipino Nurses in Adelaide .I am also contemplating on providing accommodation for nurses at a much lower rent, who will be taking BP in South Australia. That will be for the 2011 entry.
Congratulations, Rn_oz! God bless on your new endeavor! Keep it up!

thanks for posting this :)
i assume that the employer can sign anywhere in the cv, maybe in the end so it doesn't look messy. you can type "this curriculum vitae is true and correct as at (insert date)" on the bottom with a blank after for the employer. if you want to be specific, maybe you do this at the end of every employment entry in the work history part.
they probably require this to make sure we're not making up our experience. i think the major problem you'll encounter is having it signed and following it up, you know filipino mentality, they love it when they are sought after. i think as long as what you right there is true and correct they should sign it.

Others might back read in the older pages and would be confused. Just a suggestion that a new thread would be better since this thread has tons of pages.
thanx kuri 288,somehow i got a little hope..i only have volunteer experience and im afraid i dont get considered..when did you apply on the nursing board?how many months after you applied, did you get your letter? thanks.
well, NBV didnt require experience but the schools for IRON do, so that volunteer experience helps for you as opposed to me.
i sent my application late feb. got the letter requiring my board cert first week of may. and got THE letter last week of june i think.
if you have relatives in melbourne it only takes days for them to get your letter. 3 days only i think.
theres a problem with the postal service here in the phils. I get my letters like 2 months late.
our house is difficult to find!
I read the AHPRA site and it seems applying for BP will turn out negative for me. I don't have any nursing experience, even a voluntary one for almost two years now. So what do you think people? Should I still proceed for BP or is choosing conversion the better choice regarding my situation.

you had a bad experience with our postal service.. tsk tsk.. im just a bit curious because so far, i had 4 snail mails from oz nursing boards, they were all delivered to me within reasonable time, like 10-15 days..
im hoping for the best on your application..
