New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Yes, I think it's called Adacel. I plan to have that also since I'm not sure if I've received DPT vaccine when I was a child

Right you are. It's Adacel. I bought mine from Jacob's Ladder Immunization Centre (recommended by my idol Reiken:yeah:) As attested by lots of mothers, vaccines there are much cheaper. Flu vaccine is only 800Php, unlike in some clinics where it can be 1K+. The only thing though, they don't offer combination vaccines to adults; only to pediatric clients. An example of such is the 6-in-1 (DPT, HIB, HepB, Polio) which would only amount to 2400Php. This could have meant greater savings on our part.

But then again, I still recommend Jacob's Ladder Immunization Centre for your immunisation needs. Thanks to my idol, Reiken!:yeah:

hi shy there's a sample format of the CV in one of the links with the application form. Everything is laid out there. :):)

Anybody knows a cheap place to take the bridging program? My uncle will be financing my studies and I don't want him too spend to much for me.

I don't have any relatives there so any suggestions would help. I will be finishing my 2nd yr. of paid work this august, then I'll be preparing my requirements for ahpra. Hopefully, next year I could start with the program.

Thanks..

can anyone please explain the CV part on the APHRA form?what does it mean?should be signed by the employer?can someone pls tell me what it means?thanks.

i already started making my cv. the format there is just a guide and im using my own. just checked it again, it doesn't say there that we would need a signature from the employer. if you found something that says that we do need one do post it here :)

If you guys have friends who are med reps maybe you can get your vaccines from them, waaayy cheaper than from doctors or private clinics. Where I work our recent flu shots were only P500 each. Ill ask our med rep if he can give me a price list and ill post it here in case you guys are interested. Talked to our med rep last week and he said the DTaP is a little over 1k (he was trying to sell it to me, as I am the one that approves all purchases also) We have a doctor to administer it too (no charge) so you can be certified of the vaccine. Our facility can order it for us, and we'll only pay it at cost, although I will have to confirm the minimum order for us to proceed. (My shots are up to date, so this is just a favor for all you dreamers :) ) NCR area only ok. Don't want to ship/mail any meds. When I get the price, ill only post it once bec it's kinda off topic. Hope this helps.

Hi, After getting my employment and our 457 approved, my family will be joining me next month here in Adelaide. I am very excited to meet them at the Airport. Since i started my BP i have not seen them for a while.I just wanted to share to fellow nurses, that to make your "AUSTRALIAN DREAM A REALITY" you have to invest and make the first step towards your goal.

I wish to meet more Filipino Nurses in Adelaide .I am also contemplating on providing accommodation for nurses at a much lower rent, who will be taking BP in South Australia. That will be for the 2011 entry.

Me! I'll be taking my BP in South Australia! That's a brilliant idea RN oz1! You would be able to help a lot of Filipinos with that altruistic act! :yeah:
