New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hi everyone, im just new here. i just saw the new forms by the board. I would just like to ask the following:

a.) is PRC Board Certificate of Registration and Board Rating still needed as a requirement or just the PRC Certificate of Good Standing? It would be mailed by PRC direct to the Nurses Board, right?

b.) What are the academic qualifications needed? Just the BSN diploma, TOR and RLE records? Am i right? Could it be just a certified tru copy of each? Is it also necessary that the school would be mailing the requirements direct to the Nursing Board?

Also, is highschool diploma still needed?

c.) Section E: Work History

This means the work experience certificate by the employer right? Then we would still be making our CV or not?

Also, do you reckon that the Board will accept my application though I only have a voluntary experience and not a paid one? =(

Thanks a bunch!

In my experience, the old rules though cuz i have my letter already. They really do need the certificate of registration. They ask for it. I was extremely lucky, that I know some one from the state board verification, that she added in my Good moral certificate that my board cert. was still in progress and I was issued one. My registration officer considered it. Praise God!

And, I didnt send my high school diploma and I wrote no experience in my work experience.

hope this helps.

I really can't help not answering this question. I know someone who was promoted as manager at a young age of 22. But she's not a nurse or working in the health profession. Her fellow managers are in their 30s and 40s. And she was my former boss. It's been a pleasure working with her and she's an aussie.

that's true, it's a pleasure and a good experience to learn from young managers.. rarely you meet someone like that..

thanx kuri 288,

somehow i got a little hope..i only have volunteer experience and im afraid i dont get considered..when did you apply on the nursing board?how many months after you applied, did you get your letter? thanks.

im confused, how much is the assessment fee for the new APHRA forms?thanks

Hi, which do you think would be a more possible-to-work route? Because I have friends who tried the AMC route, and didn't make it. And they're not really stupid ones. They said it's really hard nowadays to go to Australia as a doctor.

that's what i also heard from others, it's a more difficult and longer route (my opinion lang poh) to obtain MD license in aussie.. (that's why i rather have by my side a nurse than a doctor, jejeje, no offense intended, just my personal preference)...

it was asked and answered in the recent pages... if my memory serves me right... 200 or 220 for the assessment fee, and 150 for the registration fee... pay them all and if for whatever reason you are turned down, the 150 will be given back to you...

ANYONE:

How many shot/s did you get or should i get for my DPT vaccine? is it just 1 as booster shot (i believe i got DPT vaccine when i was young)? or is it 3 shots?

It matters because of the expense, if 3 then that's x3 cost..

Thanks....

Hi cioman! I think it largely depends on the university or hospital where you will be having your bridging. For University of Ballarat, they only require one adult dose of the DPT or dTpa. For ETEA, they only mandate immunisations for diphtheria and tetorifice, but the number of shots needed were not at all specified.

To be safe, just have your pediatrician certify that you had three doses when you were a baby. First of which when you were 6 weeks old. Then the first to second and second to third shots should have minimum interval doses of 4 weeks.

Plus, have that adult immunisation of DPT. If you're from the Philippines, that would cost around 1200-1500 php.
