Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Guess what, wa doesn't want to join the natl board so it is being pressured by the natl govt. That's what you get from wa politics with people run by outback mentalities.
That statement is false.
Here is evidence.
Western Australia has not yet joined the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme but is expected to do so soon. If you require information regarding...

The WA Government anticipates that the national legislation will be passed in August 2010 and proclaimed and operational by 18 October 2010. It is anticipated that this date will be the new date for Western Australia’s entry into the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme.

hello, check the AHPRA website for the AHPRA Victoria/Melbourne address.. but as i mentioned in my earlier post, they do not disclose a "landline number" (they only have a toll free number).. i assume you are still in the philippines, thus you could not dial that toll free number.. Try contacting the tel numbers of the NBV, hopefully they are still working and could still assist you or ask them for the "landline number" of AHPRA Victoria.. In other words, we both have the same need, the land line number of AHPRA Victoria..
hope other members could help us..
oh thanks, cioman. I will try to call NBV's numbers tomorrow. and btw, yes im still here in the phil. Ill give it a try for AHPRA's too, but more likely, just like what youve said, wont work. anyway, hope we can figure out what numbers should we be calling soon.
Its already July 1, 2010, and im already an Australia-wide Registered Nurse, not only a Victorian Nurse..hehe LOL
@cioman, whats APHRA? dont they have an email address? whats their number, i will try to ring them once ive got a time...:)
By the way guys and goyettes try contacting this agency, they are sponsoring overseas nurses who are worth spnsoring (hahaha..just kidding)..yeah try to contact them and maybe they can help you...their website is mediserve.com.au and have a read through their website,if they are willing to sponsor you they will be the one who will pay for your visa expenses among others:up:...and im currently working for them as agency nurse as well as my friend:)
hello, in terms of total expenses and time, it is better to undergo BP than conversion program, however the main concern would be getting a slot in a BP which as others had said had been a bit competitive already.. good luck.. just keep asking questions as others here will try to help you..
Thanks for your inputs, cioman! I'm considering the bridging program since it's more economical and less time consuming. However, with the national registration in effect, I'm presuming the processing time for the board to review one's credentials will take longer as well. Would you know how long it takes on average for the then-independent state boards to grant eligibility?
I'm a second courser, so I'm kinda rushing things. I wish to go to Oz by the beginning of next year, be it by conversion (just awaiting for offers) or BP (haven't started any move in this path!). However, conditional offers granted by universities can't be put off for a long time (say, if I start processing my BP and had to wait for the eligibility and then securing a slot for the program) since slots for the conversion also fill up easily.
Gosh, I'm really confused! Do you reckon if I start processing my papers now for the BP path I'd be able to get my eligibility within the year?
I got my IELTS result and it's breaking my heart. huhu.Listening 6.5 Reading 8 Writing 6.5 Speaking 8 Overall Band 7.5
If only I can round off those 6.5's!!!
I'm sure I can improve this upon retake, but I just hate the fact that I have to pay 8K+ again.

Or maybe I can just choose conversion then retake my IELTS. But It also means I've got to spend millions and spend two years studying again. Am I destined to take conversion? Yeah yeah... I'm being dramatic now.
hey dear,
dont be disheartened! I´m on the sameboat....took my IELTS twice...the 1st time I got a 9 in the speaking and 6 in the writing....the rest I did OK...overall 8
2nd time.....** writing 6.5 it really broke my heart.........overall 8.5......
In Brazil it´s also very, veryexpensive to take and besides, I spent alot ofmoney taking private English classes:yawn:
No,no, u r definitelynot destined for conversion!!! We´ve already spent years in college...it´s enough!
Let´s cheers ourselves up and go for the bp!
God bless us all:nurse:

Keep the posts coming guys :) I tried to visit the NBV website, because I bookmarked it. But when it started loading, I was redirected to the AHPRA website.
