Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
i'm in for the oct 4 intake. i don't think there's oct 11 unless you already receive the letter of offer?
jesse gurl,
i received my offer letter yesterday. yes it's dated october 11. my classmate also, it's dated october 11.
you received your offer letter 2 months ago? did u really apply for the october intake? because we applied for the august 23 intake.... does it mean it was 2 months ago that the slots for august were full?
How come your date for the BP intake is Oct 11 while mine is Oct 4? quite odd...
i don't think there will also be 2 intake this october for VCHN BP (oct 4 and oct 11). i think we must call VCHN again and clarify this matter.
thanks jesse for presenting the matter....
il clarify this up with VCHN... or if u can, please do.... thanks
@cioman 94: In my case, I lodged my medical a month before the visa. Take a look at the DIAC's site immi.gov.au (I think) there is a list of accredited hospitals and clinics. It's best you do the medical first just in case something goes wrong which delays everything. Your medical results are good for a year, meaning you can use it as visa requirement for the whole year, no need to repeat. They will forward your medical to the embassy as soon as you are cleared. Embassy receives it in about a week, in my case, as I am from Cebu. Goodluck, have your check up when you have no cough or colds, your x-ray might go bad. Hope this helps.
hello dreaminOZ,
as i understand your post, i may have my med check up @ 1 month prior, then if assuming there is some "problem" then the doctor will first inform me about it before he will send it to embassy, am i right??
( i thought the doctor will immediately send the med results to embassy then the embassy will be the one who will inform me if there are some problem.. i got confused on this procedure)..
anyway, thank you for your reply earlier, and would be glad if you could clarify my confusion..
thanks.

wait, is that medical also true to the 456 visa?
Is it just me or is the AHPRA site down?
hello,
i would not be surprised if AHPRA website would bogged down, with many people including me, checking on it.. in fact, their register of health professionals is not yet available..
also, AHPRA website could not be opened if your windos MS explorer is version 6 and below (like mine early this morning), thus, i have to download version 8, hence i slept late kanina..
good luck and thanks for sharing info..
Hey Guys,For those who are yet to send application and those who have already sent their applications but have no approval yet, your application will now be evaluated under the new policies of AHPRA (nationa registration scheme)
Thanks Cioman94:yeah: I was about to ask what the difference was.
My question is, to anyone that can help, with the AHPRA as the main org, where do we pass our application for evaluation? Is it still per state or directly to the AHPRA?
Thanks!

yes,you can do the medical in advance. the results can be used for a year. the doctor sees your results, if by any chance, supposing artifacts show up on your x-ray, he has to ask you for another x-ray or other tests that would either confirm or rebuke the initial findings. they will forward your results after that. whether you cleared or not is not their decision to make. the final verdict is up to the aussie medical officer of the australian embassy who by the way is based in australia. you will know if something went wrong if they ask you for more tests and delay in approval.
i applied for a 456. do not apply for a tourist visa as this too can delay things. a 456 will do and do tick the multiple entry choice, which i didn't, just in case you need more time 'coz landing a job is not that easy.
if i were you, try applying while you are still there. i know of some who got their jobs online. your advantage is you already got a license without coming here. it would be better if you come here with a job offer and a 457 visa. but just in case you won't be that lucky, have your 456 ready and come here about 6 months before your license expires. that's just me though....all up to you. goodluck to all of us.
