Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hey Guys,
just a friendly reminde:
- ANMC is different from AHPRA.. to avoid confusion or to simplify the situation just read the AHPRA website.. unless you are applying now for permanent residency then read ANMC website, otherwise just focus on AHPRA..
- Experience requirements? - it depends on the policy of the BP school/provider.. the last time i check, the AHPRA does not yet specifically require 2 years or whatever years of experience.. thus, dont mix the policy of the school and AHPRA..
- For those who are yet to send application and those who have already sent their applications but have no approval yet, your application will now be evaluated under the new policies of AHPRA (nationa registration scheme).. but you really dont have to worry much about it because the policies for overseas nurses application have not changed much.. instead, focus on checking the policies of BP school/providers which have been changing drastically recently as you may have noticed..
- it's july 01 as im writing this post, thus, we are now under the new policies, new documents/forms.. i suggest you now keep on checking the AHPRA website for any developments.. NBV, NMBNSW, QNC etc. are all gone, they are now "satellite offices" of AHPRA, thus will now operate under the new policies..
- with the volume of workload and adjustments under the new scheme, expect some delay in the processing of application, they will have to prioritize things that must be, like issuance of hard copies of new license of existing RNs..
i hope this clears certain matters.. good luck to all..
Currently Accredited CoursesIn its communiqué of the Fifth meeting of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, 25 February 2010 the NMBA advised that:
‘All currently approved programs will continue to be approved by the Board under section 283 of the National Law. There will be a two-year lead-time for implementation of the accreditation standards for approved education programs leading to qualifications in nursing and midwifery.
The Board determined that in order to do this, any education program in nursing or midwifery requiring regulatory approval currently being offered, whose approval expires between 1 July 2010 and 1 July 2012, will have its approval rolled over until July 1 2012, unless major concerns about the program necessitate an earlier intervention.’(NMBA, Feb 2010).

Hello everyone...anybody whose offer letter from VCHN for the bridging program gives u a placement on october 11, 2010 intake?
so that you and i could tract and compare on the next steps that we need to do, for the things we need to prepare....
i'm in for the oct 4 intake. i don't think there's oct 11 unless you already receive the letter of offer?
gemini_star,VCHN gives three weeks time for processing, interview and evaluating your application...
but u nid to keep in touch with them from time to time and ask for an update.
in my case, they received my application two weeks ago, i was interviewed last week and this week, i got my offer letter.
How come your date for the BP intake is Oct 11 while mine is Oct 4? quite odd...
