Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Silverdragon102,thanks a lot, so i still have to wait until i am able to make 15 posts... :)
sweet_toothRN,
wat r u referring to?
Hi there Ricardo Carlos! I got worried about the two year experience requirement. I'm sorry if I got it wrong but from what I understood regarding the previous post, the new Board requires overseas nurses to have a couple of years of working experience. And I don't have that
I kinda submitted my application to NBV about three weeks ago so naturally they weren't able to assess me yet and that my application will be turned over to the new Board. So I'm terrified coz they might not assess me favorably..
@sweet_toothrn i believe ricardo was referring to the vchn reqt and not nbv. i don't have work experience but my application was assessed by nbv, now im school hunting.
hi guys!
what do bp providers usually ask during the interview? im a bit anxious coz i dont have any work experience. hope someone can share some thoughts. :)

well its before july 1 so in my understanding, since they have received (i suppose they have) your application before the new policies came out, your application is covered under the old policies...For the benefit of the doubt, u can call the NBV to clarify matters. they will entertain your concerns. but as i have said, i think u are under the old rules...
@NewMac: Oh okay.. So the Australian Registered Nurses Training Program (ARNTP) is only for that particular school/uni? I thought it's already the new terminology for the BP. I hope not..
@Ricardo Carlos: I hope so too.. Well when I submitted my application I know that there's just a very slim chance of them handing out an assessment before the 1st of July.. (had to be realistic, didn't want to get my hopes too high) but still I went ahead with my application (have nothin' to loose right?) But I'm also scared stiff because I think that once a new Board or authority steps in then all applicants have to comply with the new policies or rules of that new Board because the old Board (NBV) still hasn't reached a final decision. And if they're gonna implement the experience thing then I guess that's it for me..
Yup and VCHN offers bridging courses for both NMBWA and NBV. By the way, regarding the waiver of the IELTS after two years of study... it was an nmbSA-approved condition back then for the ARNTP. However, I do not know if this still applies today. As I stated 2 pages ago, a re-accreditation of the ARNTP requires all 7's as a qualifying criteria.

hi newmac!
when i was interviewed last week by vchn, i was asked to simply tell her (because the interviewer was a female) about myself. and i talked about the kind of worker i am. she had follow up questions that were connected to the things i told her.
she dealt actually with what was exactly in my resume. she asked about my nursing education, my experience.
and i was asked if i am willing to work in an area that i haven't been assigned to or not my field (eg, psychiatric ward)...
the interview went fine. dont get anxious coz the interviewer will dwell on the documents you have submitted, as well as personal questions...
im not sure if others had d same questions in so far as the vchn interview is concerned...

gemini_star,
VCHN gives three weeks time for processing, interview and evaluating your application...
but u nid to keep in touch with them from time to time and ask for an update.
in my case, they received my application two weeks ago, i was interviewed last week and this week, i got my offer letter.
