Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
@Ianina In regards to either taking the bridging course or the conversion, you would need an IELTS TRF. Test scores for conversion are more lenient INITAILY because I've seen some unis offering conversion and only asks for a 6.5 in writing and such. However, upon completion of the course, you have to comply with the National Board's requirement of all 7's in one sitting- unless you've studied for two years where the board would consider the circumstance otherwise. Having all 7's is also advantageous to your legwork at DIAC as it adds an extra 10 points to your PR application under migration skills stream.
-let me clarify this so if I took the conversion program for 2 years I am not required to get an overall score of 7 in the IELTS? If this is possible? (lenient AU universities)....
Hi everybody! I know most of the people here are waiting for the revised guidelines from AHPRA. This thing had me confused. After the national registration, does this mean that we have to apply at ANMC for accreditation instead of the preferred state such as NBV? Where can I get the application form? or should I still be using the NBV form then send it to ANMC?
Care to enlighten me guys? Thanks a bunch.
ANMC is for accreditation and reaccreditation of nursing programs. You apply in NMBA not in ANMC unless you want to establish your own nursing school here in Aus. 7 is required in IELTS for NMBA and the bp/conversion provider is up to its discretion if it wanted 7/6/6.5. All applicants are required a score of 7 even local graduates who studied nursing here in aus unless they had their secondary educ here. May you be an American, European, etc you will still take your IELTS. The only way to waive the ielts is through 'special circumstances'
hi ricardo, do you have any experience? is vchn strict about the experience?
gemini_star,
i have an experience as clinical instructor turning 4 years on august 15. but i work with students in the clinical area regularly. VCHN have considered that having accepted me.
It's noted in their website that the applicant must have at least 3 years experience. However, my friend whose experience is still running 2 years mid this year, as a staff nurse, was also granted an offer letter (on the same placement as mine, October 10, 2010).
I suppose for it's a case to case basis evaluation. They accept electronic applications so might as well submit.
Me and my friend applied for the august 23 intake but the slots are full already.
From where are you gemini_star? what's your status right now?

@ terdjay - thanks for the info, it really did help me differentiate the two. Having a nursing school at Oz isn't a bad idea :)
NMBA? I tried looking for the website. Any idea where to acquire the forms for assessment? Pardon me for asking too much, I already figured out the process before but due to the natl reg, now i'm back to scratch.
Thanks again!!!
