Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
information are indeed pouring.. :)hey, has anybody reported about the economic/employment atmosphere in SA?
WLI responded quickly with my application for BP. Univ of Ballarat has a BP program offered in Adelaide thru WLI. With the national registration, after successful completion of my BP, i can have a license valid anywhere in oz.
Im required to respond by July 15. WLI offered me a seat in their sept intake.
Newmac, are you going to pursue BP at WLI? that's my deadline too. I'm still waiting for ETEA. its taking them a while to reply. I'm confuse what visa to get for wli since they want a week before to be there. so short stay visa won't be enough.
I have the same problem. But they say 6.5 will be ok then. How true is this?
Hi jesse gurl. 6.5 is ok to take the BP/conversion. But to immigrate its 7. This was conveyed to me by an IDP consultant. You can also see this in the school's and nursing boards' websites.
Why be settled with a 6.5 when you can get at least a 7?:)
This is just to ensure that foreign migrants will be able to communicate clearly with them. Remember, they have varying degrees of accents there, to the point that it's going to take extra effort for us to understand them. Plus, we're the one with an accent to them. And from what I've been reading, there are a lot of senior nurses in Australia that won't even give a **** about new grads, let alone migrants who can't cope.
I say to all, try your best and study hard! If you didn't make the grade, practice some more, because in the end for your benefit too. It's a small price to pay for your Australian dream:redbeathe
thanks ceridwyn and nasruasim!
@gemini if u get a 456 with multiple entry, you can make an exit in nz airport, no transit visa required as long as your stay in the airport is less than 24 hours. then, go back to oz and you get urself another 3 months.
i'm still undecided. my email (application) to alpine health keeps on bouncing back.

Newmac, did you submit your application via email? Is that possible? Or you need to have a courier for this? Thanks so much!

Hi doza! I don't know if i can still reach 7. I can remember how hard it was!!! Oh well, maybe i'll get lucky again! Hehehe... I'm in for the October intake at VCHN. Maybe I can do better with english right after my BP. I'll just keep my fingers crossed!
My concern is the immunization status. Did you submit this evidence already or you just told them that you will forward this once you're done with your medicals? Sorry for so many queries
Hi mooh mooh. You don't need the immunization for the lodgment of visa. You have to present your immunization certs to the school you're enrolled.

Thanks newmac, that's wonderful. I am leaning to WLI for now. It's winter over there make sure you bring winter clothes in case you want to do bp at Alpine Health.

As far as I can tell, there are many job opportunities for nurses here in Adelaide. The news papers are full of these ads. I receive job openings from Flinders and there are many for nurses in there as well. So I believe, you can get a job without much delay after your BP.
And as you have said, you can work anywhere in Australia/New Zealand after you complete the BP.
