Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
whew! i've been away for so long and a lot has happened here... i am very very thankful for the sea of information shared among the forumers..you rock, guys!
@gemini_star ... on your question to newmac a few posts back regarding the interview of etea and their response time: from my experience, after etea interviewed me, they offered me a slot and a few hours later, they emailed and attached the formal letter of offer... best of luck, dude!

hey guys!
i'm a brazilian nurse totally new to this community!
i've been reading this thread and i'm so thankful to god that i've found u, guys!
it's really impressive the way u help each other....as far as i'm concerned im the only nurse in brazil who's got the australian dream as u've said....most are afraid of pursuing a foreign career and think i'm crazy!
i was kinda lost before i found this thread....now my mind is clearer thank to u, my friends!
it's very nice and generous what u r doing here and may god fill u with his blessings!
i've noticed that many of u are applying for the bp in victoria. am i right?
i thought that bp's in australia would only start after the new reg.laws on july 1st.
i want to apply in qld but they said that it'll only be possible after the new guidelines....
oh! another doubt: i've seen that some of u have already received bp letters from the unis but are still waiting for the ielts results....is it possible to apply without the ielts?
sorry for the avalanche of questions but i'm kinda lost here in south america hehehehehehe
thank you and god bless us all:nurse:
Hello! I opted out of the Curtin and UniSa option (they are offering me a conversion program) and decided to apply at VCHN. After a successful screening of my work statements (acute care criteria I guess), they sent me a form for the immunization that I have to submit. They also asked me for a police check (I'm going to send an NBI clearance).
To those who are eligible for VCHN, it would really help you if you get two work statements under the hospital letterhead. Work statements I submitted were from the hospital director and the other from the chief nurse. Criterias were:
-The dates of employment (per area)
-Position in the organization - a volounteer, casual, contractual, or staff level must be indicated
-Number of hours in experience (per area)
-The responsibilities you have undertaken while in the unit area
-Private or Government and level (Tertiary, secondary, etc)
-Bed capacity
Do not worry as you could approach the Personnel Department for the number of hours. Alternatively, if you have been keeping your DTR (I dont know the equivalent for private hospitals because I worked for the government, sorry) you could show it to the unit manager to speed up the process. If you wish, you could also attach a copy of your evaluation form (the one from the Nurse 1 or Nurse 2 supervisor) for each area when transferred or for renewal.
I hope the info would helps others.
Anyway, my application form arrived at NMBWA this June 14th and after contacting IDP, they confirmed that they have already sent the TRF to NMBWA. I'm just wondering how long does it take for the board to respond. Is it usually 2 weeks? Also, I was wondering if any of you guys asked the NMBWA to send it by courier instead of by post office? This is because my sister's offer letter arrived one month later UPON ARRIVAL from the Quezon City Post Office x_x I hope to avoid that really long delay. Thank you in advance!

welcome to the thread! from what i understand, the criteria of 6.5 in the ielts only applies to some schools for the conversion of your degree. the bridging programs requires you to have a minimum grade of 7 each. as a matter of fact, it is already assumed because the bp courses require you to have the letter of eligibility from the board concerned and the boards require the grade of at least all 7's in order to send you the letter to undertake the bp.
@ cioman :just redo all the immunization on the checklist then get the doctor to certify the vaccines given to you...don't worry too much about format or whatever.... you can get the swine flu vaccine here it's covered in your OSHC (overseas student health care)
@jesse gurl --- thank you for the info..
@chabeli --- there is an accredited aus embassy doctor who will conduct the medical check up for aus visa purposes.
but with regards to immunizations, does it mean that it is okey if another doctor (who is not an accredited embassy doctor) will issue the certification??
thanks.. if others could answer my query, pls do.. thanks..

chabeli, wanna ask in case you have the answer-- the accredited doctor will send directly the medical check up result to the aus embassy.. if i would have my medical check up let's say 1 month prior the actual lodging of visa application, does it mean that the doctor will temporarily hold on to my medical results or will he immediately send the medical results to aus embassy eventhough i have not yet filed application??
thanks as always,,

They offer the bridging course for free but the slots are always filled up. You'll have to wait for something like 2 years.
