Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
If my IELTs will expire and I get into a bridging program and it finishes right after my IELTS expires. Should I worry or not since before commencing the BP, NBV already has records of my IELTS. Do i need to resubmit new ones when the time comes to officially register?
Your ielts must be valid upon enrollment, so if this expires before your BP is finish it does not affect your registration with the nurses board. You are also right NBV has your records already when you had your assessment with them, whats outstnding requirements is only your BP. A friend of mine got her Endorsement fron NBV last April but her IELTS expired May 21, and her BP will commence in October in this case she was adviced by NBV to retake her IELTS sigh.
@dumb: you can pay the assessment fee thru credit card. just email an authorization letter (just like nbv's credit card payment format) and include important details like the type (mastercard or visa), 16-digit card number, expiry date, name of cardholder, signature and the date you signed the authorization. that's what i did and etea responded to me by emailing me a receipt of the assessment fee of aud $150.
yup, dumb, couldn't agree more with mooh_mooh. that's what i also did. when you send your application, a certified copy of the nbv eligibility letter, and other supporting documentations to etea, you can also attach a separate credit card debit authorisation form/letter outlining all the pertinent details and the credit card holder's signature which will serve as your payment for the assessment fee. you have the option to scan all these and send via email or have the actual papers (hard copies) sent by courier service (e.g. fedex, dhl).
@reiken:
dude, you really are good! thanks for the info! i learn so much from you!

@ mooh_mooh, dumb: thanks, bros! the credit is not solely mine... it's for everyone here on the forum who have collectively been helpful with one another, especially for all of us pinoy rns... continuing with the community's "bayanihan" spirit, i'm trying to do my share as much as i can...
ei, mooh_mooh, so you also applied for etea's next intake. i presume it's for their last schedule in october, isn't it? if everything goes smooth for you, we might even become classmates... kewl! now, we're starting to form a block here if that'd be the case...
and to the rest like gemini_star, countmein, anyad, mynalla and others who have been recently given their multicolored letters from nbv and are onto the next step in getting into a bp course in the providers of their choice, i am one with your glee and in support of your next pursuit... i wish you well in progressing with your next steps... best of luck to all of us! and perhaps, we'll see one another there in the future!
and to sweet_toothrn, mikyong and the rest of the next batch whose applications for registration with nbv will probably be endorsed to the nursing and midwifery board of australia (nmba), hang in there... you'll have your turn. we were in your shoes when we started with our journey... and we were able to find our way through the help of the wealth of useful information that were posted on this thread by the wonderful people who were ahead of us and who selflessly guided us in getting past every obstacles in the process... just keep the faith, persevere, and remain optimistic for better things to come after the transition on 01 july 2010.

Likewise to you! Benevolence is a cycle on this thread... what goes around comes around... in a good way, bro! I'm still on half of my journey and is very appreciative of all the contributors' shared information on this thread (chabeli, ryan_09, javRN, imsodizzy, dudzy, RN_oz1, terdjay, etc.) who were ahead of us and are now in Australia... I'm pretty sure that you'd be able to help others as well when the time comes to give back! Let's share the goodwill to others!
Same here…:yeah: I just dun have the right words to express my gratitude but am really really really grateful for all the help. This is really awesome! Even before I can ask …. my questions are already answered.

WLI responded quickly with my application for BP. Univ of Ballarat has a BP program offered in Adelaide thru WLI. With the national registration, after successful completion of my BP, i can have a license valid anywhere in oz.
Im required to respond by July 15. WLI offered me a seat in their sept intake.

2. Nurses and midwives will fulfil the requirements relating to recency of practice if they can demonstrate at least one of the following:
(a) practice in their profession within the last five years for a period equivalent to a minimum of six months full time
(b) successful completion of an approved re-entry to practice program
© successful completion of a supervised practice experience approved by the Board.
3. Practice hours are recognised if:
(a) the nurse or midwife held a valid registration with nursing or midwifery regulatory authority in the jurisdiction (either Australian or overseas) when the hours were worked;

4. Extended time away from practice due to illness or any type of leave may not be counted as practice.
Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia: Registration consultation paper (27 October 2009) 11
Definitions
Practice can include any role in which the individual uses their nursing or midwifery skills and knowledge. It should be noted that for the purposes of the registration standard, practice is not restricted to the provision of direct clinical care only. Being ‘in practice’ includes using nursing or midwifery knowledge in a direct relationship with clients, and working in nursing or midwifery management, administration, education, research, professional advice, regulatory or policy development roles, and any other roles that impact on safe, effective nursing or midwifery service delivery.
