Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
If you can wait til Jan, no problem going to la trobe, deakin, etc. If you're rushing might as well go to etea if there are any slots left. Whatever you choose you'll end up with an aus license anyway. Besides, unis are cheaper but you'll have to wait longer.
I'm waiting for the natl reg bec bps all over aus may sprout.
@marclorenzIm contemplating on ETEA, DEAKIN, and La Trobe.
Honestly, im at a loss. I really dont know what to look for.
Hopefully Newmac can enlighten us....
where will you be staying? that's my primary concern. transportation's a big hassle especially now, it's winter.
as for the standards, i heard Deakin's on top of the BPs. other than that, i know nothing more
NewMac, where are you ---

oh yes, the national registration will bring a lot of changes. please keep me posted on this one terdjay.
are you in Au already?
as far as i know, you cannot practice without the board registration. may it be in a rural area or the central cities.and the only way to have yourself registered as a nurse practitioner is via a program for registration, either BP or Conversion.
This is so true in all the other states except NT.
Let's just hope for the best with him. As far as I can tell, he was granted full registration by the Nurses board of NT. The decision came after it was deliberated in a board meeting. He was given a temporary license prior to the grant of a full license.
So as far as practising as an RN in NT, he can because he is registered and with the upcoming July National Rego, he will be granted license to practise as RN by the new NMBA. He took the road less travelled and I am happy for him. I pray he will gain entry to the practise area of his choice.
Northern Territory board of nursing has a different set of rules. It is independent of the other state boards of nursing. And the New NMBA will have to respect its previous rules and decisions. He is a second courser, he is also a topnotcher in the Philippine boards. And i think he deserves it. He did a lot of research and it paid off. We Pinoys should be happy and wish for the success of our fellow Pinoys. But as I have implied, it is a class of its own. Way to go cioman94! give us updates.
here i am!
i chose etea because it's the only intitution having an intake this year, which is located in the metro area. A number of institutions, like Alpine Health, still have slots and intake/s (even earlier than that of etea's october intake) but they are located miles from melbourne.
I didn't choose vchn because i believe they do require work experience.
Deakin was my first choice and La trobe being second but they don't have intakes anymore for ths year. This won't be a problem if you're not in a rush. Experiencing the australian university life wouldn't be a bad thing.
And when started communicating with etea, i felt they were indeed accommodating. Ryan09 actually recommended etea. I think i read somewhere, etea does help its students find work after completing their BP.
The requirements aren't complicated and stressful as well. Everything can be done by email -not that their the only one offering such method.
Dred and reiken also etea bound. In fact, dred has paid the acceptance deposit. Maybe he can share his thoughts to you guys which will be very helpful.
I hope this one helps.
gemini_star yes, everything was certified and i submitted my documents thru email except fo the bank draft. :)
