New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

@drednag, dude what are the payment method options for etea (for the acceptance deposit)? is everything going to be by email? the letters, i mean. letter of offer, acceptance, certificate of enrolment, receipt etc...? how many days was this whole transaction?

hey, newmac. i paid the acceptance deposit through bank to bank transaction. as for the communications, i did everything through email.. they sent me the letter of offer via email, i sent my acceptance through email too (you can also fax)..they will send you the receipts through email also. their replies are usually very quick, bro.. just follow up from time to time. like when i asked if they received my payment already, after one day, they replied and sent me the receipt. and when i asked about the certificate of enrolment, after just a few hours, they replied that.....

they dont issue a certificate of enrolment, dude.. since they are not cricos registered (ircon course). so all you have to submit with your visa application is the letter of offer and the receipt evidencing payment of the acceptance deposit.:up::up:

hope this helps, bro. best of luck to all of us.:yeah:

@ drednag thanks dude the information is helpful. i will probably ring them tomorrow. btw, have you lodged your 456 application? :)

Great post JavRN! :up::)

hi terdjay, which places are far from civilization? Hope you can shed us some light on this since you are there already.

ballarat, bendigo, Geelong and warrnambool are big cities. Well, big by their standards. The rest are in the mountains prone to bushfires. Rural towns in victoria have their local supermarket so nothing to worry about. 'Far' bec you need to travel to the nearest city to taste fastfoods and do your shopping (like people of castlemaine traveling to bendigo to eat in maccas and shop) And towns in Victoria are underpopulated. If Filipinos get homesick in bendigo, all the more in castlemaine. Etea, vchn, deakin, ballarat, la trobe are preferred places to have bp bec they're conveniently located. But the clinical placements are another story.

Hey guys!

Im here at Kennington just near La Trobe Uni. We will be starting our school next week.

Lithotomy! I thought I told you to take it one step at a time! Now you're already ahead of me by a hundred steps! OK just send us $$ when you get a job so we can also apply for BP. Everybody happy! :yeah:

Etea, vchn, deakin, ballarat, la trobe are preferred places to have bp bec they're conveniently located. But the clinical placements are another story.

where are the placements? i was informed that each student has to apply to a hospital for a placement and wait for their approval for conversion courses. is that the same for bps? thanks!

clinical placements are part of the bridge programs. bp providers such as etea arranges the clinical placements, i believe so, of its students. clinical placements are not necessarily located in the suburb where lectures are conducted. i believe that's what terdjay was trying to say. :)

Specializes in Medical, surgical.

hey guys, I thought I will let you guys know. The University of Ballarath's BP can be taken in Adelaide which is the capital of South Australia through William Light Institute. They have July and September intakes for which they are still accepting applications.

thanks newmac!

hi i'm a newbie here. just want to ask what institutions in Sydney also offers IRON program? thanks

guys, how do you go about requesting your professional standing and verification of registration from the US to be sent to NMB NSW?

the state where you are registered usually has a form for this. they do it for a fee of course, just check their website. :)
