New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

ey darky... Well it depends... Case to case basis coz mine took like a month while a friend of mine took less than a week. During the time I applied, the admission's officer had her hands full because of the upcoming start of classes for all students in general not just for the people applying for BP therefore she wasn't able to attend to my application right away. But generally applying in a school doesn't take that long give and take at least 2 weeks....

Applying for visa takes longer...

oh ok.. 'cause i've already applied to a uni for the BP last january and until now, there's no confirmation yet.. i've sent them an email regarding the status of my application and all they said was they will send the offer letter soon..

maybe i'm just getting a little impatient..

Which Uni did you apply with?

:w00t:WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!! Its Raining Approval Today!!! Congrats to another forumer who got her approval also today. :yelclap::yeah::monkeydance:

May I know who is this forumer? What is her/his timeframe?

Let's wait for her to post and reply to your question if she wants to...She frequents the forum anyway. I purposely didn't say her handle name coz she might not want it announced here. But she got approved way faster than my friend who applied since July.

@Haoyin.. I have a friend who wants to take the BP course in Victoria as soon as possible. Do you happen to know any university that still have an opening intake for this year?

@Narscathy

Is your friend already approved by NBV? Okay first, I am not very familiar about other universities as I only research on things that concerns my application and those that interests me. Also I tend to forget details that are no longer pertinent to me therefore I only post things that I am quite sure of so as not to give out wrong information.

Anyway, since I applied with LaTrobe, I know that they are still accepting applicants for their next intake which will commence on the 21st of June and LaTrobe is by far the only Uni I know that has the closest intake to date. Now, if your friend is already approved by the nursing board then he should immediately do some research and contact the university that he wishes to apply with. It's hard to say if your friend can still make it to the June intake of LaTrobe because Uni application takes time and Visa application takes even longer. But since I'm assuming that your friend has his NBV approval letter already, there's a high chance that he could still make it if he starts on his application right away and if he has all the necessary documents ready for Visa application i.e recent bank certificate, bank statements, vaccination requirements and certified copies of the usual stuff.

I suggest you ask your friend to google up and do some research if he wishes it that bad to take the BP courses in Victoria at the soonest possible time. It would be better that way so as not to be misled by 2nd hand information that you simply get from asking others. But don't get me wrong, I am only suggesting this because it seems that there's a tone of "urgency" that your friend is really trying to make it there ASAP and what better else is there to do than get your facts straight by reading the websites and contacting the institutions themselves.

Regards.

check out your wall:banghead:

Hi gemini_star,

Haoyin might be referring to me. This is my timeline:

Certificate of Good Standing (CGS) Sent via ordinary post - End of Nov 2009

Application sent - 07 Dec 2009

Received letter requesting for CGS - 26 Feb 2010

CGS Sent 2nd time (via DHL) - 02 Mar 2010

Received letter of approval - 11 Mar 2010

You might notice that the letter of approval came too soon after the second CGS was sent. I suspect that my first CGS arrived nevertheless...after 3 months. :vlin:

My fellow nurses.. I just attended the free orientation to ANSC in Greenhills. They help to process things from Application to NBV, application of visa, accomodation for 13 weeks, student health insurance, air fare to NBV and finding an employer for you while you are on 3 months BP. But you will be on a student visa so that you can have a work for 20 hours a week to support your self while you are in NBV. In spite of that glamorous introduction, my eyes popped out when they laid out the overall expenses, 23,000 Australian Dollars for the whole package? That is too expensive and your sponsor must have an 17,000 Australian Dollars in their bank accounts.

Wow what overwhelming information. Couldn't keep up with all the ideas. :sstrs:I am new here at allnurses. :)

narscathy I am soooooooo excited!!! I am also from Fatima like you. What year did you graduate? Good to know I have a fellow Fatimanian applying to Australia. Ahhmmm... narscathy can you please help me out I have a few questions I would like to ask you. You mentioned that your friend wants to go take his bp in victoria as soon as possible and I think you also applied to undergo bp in Australia yourself or maybe you are thinking of applying soon. Did you or will you also apply in Victoria? Why would you choose Victoria compared to Queensland or South Wales or Western Australia? What is the difference in conversion course as compared to bp? Which school will you enroll in? Why did you choose that school? Which University in Victoria is suitable and good choice for study Bachelor of nursing (Pre-Registration) or BP? And which University in Victoria has friendly and intelligent lecturers? Did you or will you apply on your own or will you seek the help of any agency? How are you paying for all of this? Are you working now as a nurse? Do you think it is okay that I only have 3 months working experience? Are you also a 2nd courser because I read that many are 2nd coursers? How long do you think will it take before I get approved like your friend if I apply now? What are the things I need to prepare to apply? Do I need to go to PRC? I am only going to take my IELTS soon, I am very very very scared and nervous. Can you give me some advice? I read you are also going to take IELTS like me. Also are you still single? Can I meet you so I can get to know more about the bp and know you also? Pls Pls Pls Pls Pls I strongly advise you to answer all my questions and help me. By the by, I read you post provide and giving ideas to others cheers for service. Your ideas are very valuable to me. I know you are very kind person and helpful that's why I chose to ask help from you a fellow Fatimanian. Thank you very much again. Sorry if I ask many things because I am only new here and I think you can relate to my situation. I am shy to ask others so I ask my fellow alumni. Ty Ty Ty Ty Ty... :redpinkhe:redbeathe:heartbeat Best Wishes to everyone!!! Byeee! Ty again narscathy I wait your wonderful Reply. :tku: :flwrhrts:
