New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

waaahhh...I just saw the EB notification now...2 days after the event...but even if I saw it on time, would not have been able to join you as Im from Davao...anyways, hope you guys had fun fun fun!!!

Good luck to all those waiting for their respective assessments!

Hi everyone!

I had my first post on the other thread (bridging program...). I saw this thread and was surprised it already reached about 4hun plus pages. Anyways, I really find the threads/posts really helpful as I also recently applied at NBV. I don't have any work experience (just training/volunteer) and as with what I read from aelith's posts they're (NBV) not particular with it? True?

Thanks! Hope to learn more here. :)

hi guys, this thread is really helpful, thanks to all of you. I just passed my documents to NBV except the part from PRC, the certificate of good standing, is it ok if i pass an original one but dated decmeber '09, and send it thru dhl, the one inside PRC?,,or is it a must that I send them a new one?

hi, as i understand PRC certificate of good standing should be sent by PRC itself directly to the NBV.. just reconfirm my opinion with other threadmembers...

good luck..

wow what overwhelming information. couldn't keep up with all the ideas. :sstrs:i am new here at allnurses. :)

narscathy i am soooooooo excited!!! i am also from fatima like you. what year did you graduate? good to know i have a fellow fatimanian applying to australia. ahhmmm... narscathy can you please help me out i have a few questions i would like to ask you. you mentioned that your friend wants to go take his bp in victoria as soon as possible and i think you also applied to undergo bp in australia yourself or maybe you are thinking of applying soon.

actaully, i am still reviewing for my ielts, and eventually i will lodge my application upon the release of my result thereafter.

did you or will you also apply in victoria? why would you choose victoria compared to queensland or south wales or western australia?

well, consequently i choose nbv because i'm familiar with their whole process; however,i 'am also contemplating to choose western australiasince you can apply directly to the university you want to enroll in for the conversion program.

what is the difference in conversion course as compared to bp?

bp will take 3 months for you to become an rn ,it's a 2 months theory in the university and 1 month clinical placement in a hospital. however, in conversion program , you will going to study for a year wherein your degree or some of your subjects here in the philippines will be credited in oz.

which school will you enroll in? why did you choose that school? which university in victoria is suitable and good choice for study bachelor of nursing (pre-registration) or bp? and which university in victoria has friendly and intelligent lecturers? did you or will you apply on your own or will you seek the help of any agency? how are you paying for all of this? are you working now as a nurse? do you think it is okay that i only have 3 months working experience?

yeah, i'll be heading back to cebu for our extension of work as per job order by pgma after my exam on march 27. three months of work experience will suffice for the assessment for nbv ,but it is more recommended if you have an alteast 1 year of work experience for you to find an agency where they can help you for your work placement as well as the sponsorship for work visa like in vchn or aaon.

are you also a 2nd courser because i read that many are 2nd coursers? how long do you think will it take before i get approved like your friend if i apply now? what are the things i need to prepare to apply?

no, i'm not a 2nd courser,i just graduated last october batch 2008. i suggest you browse http://www.nbv.org.au . all of the information you needed for registration will be found there.

do i need to go to prc? i am only going to take my ielts soon, i am very very very scared and nervous. can you give me some advice? i read you are also going to take ielts like me. also are you still single? can i meet you so i can get to know more about the bp and know you also?

i am currently reviewing at niner edsa taft branch. well, goodluck in your exam!!

pls pls pls pls pls i strongly advise you to answer all my questions and help me. by the by, i read you post provide and giving ideas to others cheers for service. your ideas are very valuable to me. i know you are very kind person and helpful that's why i chose to ask help from you a fellow fatimanian. thank you very much again. sorry if i ask many things because i am only new here and i think you can relate to my situation. i am shy to ask others so i ask my fellow alumni. ty ty ty ty ty... :redpinkhe:redbeathe:heartbeat best wishes to everyone!!! byeee! ty again narscathy i wait your wonderful reply. :tku: :flwrhrts:

Thanks for the response Haoyin!!.. actually I sugggested here to take the BP instead of the conversion program in Sydney. She was in a hurry to fly to OZ since she's getting old already..haha.. But after all of the information that I shared to her ,she was stunned at the same time bewildered by my ideas. She doesn't even know that every IEN's must be assess by the nursing regulatory body in OZ. And now she was contemplating to pursue her ambition.Anyway, thank you very much for your wonderful ideas. I really appreciated it.!! GodBlesss!

@narscathy Thank you for the fast reply. But I am actually a guy, not girl. :p By the by, you have shared many info and it is very helpful. TY so so much for being patiently in answering my questions. I will visit the link you give me. I am also reviewing at niners taft branch. When do you go there? I hope to meet you. Are you still single and ready to mingle? Because I am bewildered by your kindness and intellect and I know you are very nice. Maybe we can help each other in many many ways that you want and submit applications together so it is not boring. Maybe we get approved same time then we will not be lonely in Australia. I notice You said you have work order by PGMA? WOW! Very impressive. Are you private nurse of First Gentleman Mike Arroyo? I give you 100,000 Kudos!:bowingpur I will follow all your advice to me and read back. I also wish you goood luck with application to Pinoy Care and with exam on MArch 27. You are very good I know you will pass. Ty again many many many times. :redbeathe:) I will look for :nurse: in Niners taft. I know you look like this :nurse:, smiley happy nurse.

Byeeee Byeee! I wait your wonderful message in this forum... very helpful. Fatimanian For The Win! HepHepHooray!

Hi gemini_star,

Haoyin might be referring to me. This is my timeline:

Certificate of Good Standing (CGS) Sent via ordinary post - End of Nov 2009

Application sent - 07 Dec 2009

Received letter requesting for CGS - 26 Feb 2010

CGS Sent 2nd time (via DHL) - 02 Mar 2010

Received letter of approval - 11 Mar 2010

You might notice that the letter of approval came too soon after the second CGS was sent. I suspect that my first CGS arrived nevertheless...after 3 months. :vlin:

WOW! You are lucky! I congratulate you. You have speedy approval from NBV. I wish narscathy and me will have speedy approval also when we apply together just like you.
