New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Anyone here who was able to pass all the four modules in one go?

Thanks. Coz I hear people passing two out of four so I am wondering if there are people who got three out of four or everything thanks!

@ newmac : yup , 300k for the two of us although it was a bit more than that around 350K . it 's really about how much you will spend here and big bulk of that goes to the accomodation rent. but we also had an affidavit of financial support from Chabeli's uncle overseas and he stated that he will be funding for all Chabeli's needs for the course duration.

@chabeli: got it! ill probably have an open house in the coming weeks:idea::lol2: thanks for the update!

why [is it] so quiet??? everybody busy??? :p

Maybe all the questions have been answered and I guess everyone is still waiting..and on stand by mode =)

only two universities in victoria offering the course amounting to 5 digits..deakin university and la trobe universsity...

if youve got a relative here then that would be terrific, staying in your relatives place while doing the bp is a big help to lessen your expenses..no need for you to pay for the accomodation...accomodations here will cost you from 120 dollars a week so just imagine how big the rental fee is...

thanks...:)

i will give you a high assurance that im the guy in the pic...lol...there are only two males in our class...me and the other one is an african...

here in australia the male to female nurse ratio would be like 2 (males)is to 15 (females) :D unlike in the philippines wherein you can see a lot of male nurses...

good luck!

just curious, im not being biased, ..... considering the ratio of males to females nurses, would you say that they would be glad to hire male nurses? i mean, we would have some slight "hiring" edge when we apply?

How's everyone doing? NewMac and Reiken, any news?:uhoh3::):):)

@drednag: I haven't called NBV [again]. I have shifted to calling them on a weekly basis:lol2: since my calls to oz are free. I just have to say until midnight tough. As of now, Im keeping myself busy thinking where to get my $$$. I would really like to apply for ETEA's april intake if i get my nbv letter this February by God's grace. But the figures I see in my bank account do not look good. I failed to anticipate this whole thing. I should've tighten my belt long ago. :( But anyway Ill just worry if I get my nbv letter sooner than expected. It shouldn't [must not] be a problem [hopefully] if I would be taking La Trobe's second intake in June/July. How's the weather forecast? When will $$$ pour from the sky? :p

I'm on deakin's waitlist but I dunno if I will be able to get it coz I still need to retake my IELTS. I'm thinking now to opt for Latrobe. Anybody else is going to enroll there?

me, me, me! but no NBV letter yet! :p :(:uhoh3:

Yey! I hope we can still make it to Latrobe. I have been trying to get in the program since Sept. last year. It just gets soo frustrating..

@desperado16 why? what's wrong?
