New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

yup only month and date in the transcript.
month and exact date? no year?, or did you mean month and year only. I asked for a letter from my school just incase but the commencement date was still just the month and year, they said they really dont include even if its just a letter. So i just did what the rest did..got the time when school started for that year and wrote it down ..the date-month-year....hope its ok..resending stuff just prolongs the agony and cost alot..

anyone who knows la trobe's closing date for its bp 2nd intake? paging chabeli....!!!! - i emailed them but i failed to get a concrete answer:

for application close dates please refer to coursefinder to check for course specific application close dates. if an application close date is not listed then that means there is no specific application close date.

we recommend that you allow a minimum of four to six weeks to obtain your student visa and to make your travel arrangements (in some countries, student visas can take up to 3 months to process). if you already have a student visa, you can apply for entry to semester 1 courses until mid-january. however, if you do not have a student visa, you should apply by december at the latest. for july (mid-year) entry, you should submit your application by the end of may at the latest.

deakin's 2nd intake is closing on the 25th! :( :sniff:

hey, newmac...gosh, pressure pressure...i really want to go to deakin...anyway, did you try the other accredited bridging course providers listed in the nbv website? just in case...

i tried before -curiosity's sake. now i have to do an in-depth research if i dont reach Deakin's Jan 2th deadline! :(

@ drednag & NewMac: Yeah, the countdown to Deakin's January 25th deadline for application has started and it's only a matter of days... yet no word from NBV... *sigh* :scrying: I would have wanted to get into Deakin too because of its proximity to Melbourne.

guys, i really don't know when is La Trobe's closing date. during my time, i also did not see any closing date but they will just tell me to send it ASAP. Make sure that you send them complete requirements all the time as they are able to process it right away. and be ready with credit cards coz it's the fastest way to pay for your tuition fee because the wire transfer can take at least 5 banking days. so they prefer credit card. don't worry it's ok to use multiple credit cards.

i hope you guys can make it to Deakin because Bendigo is far although there is a chance they will offer it in their Melbourne bundoora campus.

Hey check this link : the local media here in Bendigo featured La Trobe's IRON course

http://www.bendigoweekly.com/Public/Template2/ThreadView.aspx?tid=25861

it says La Trobe is considering another intake from the current 2 per year because of the demand :) hopefully they offer it in other campus but Bendigo is also a lovely city.. it is beautiful and quiet.

wow, feature article! :) looks like you guys are really enjoyin out there! thanks chabeli for the update!

P.S.

how quiet? [bendigo] :))

Hello to all! I hope I can connect to people who are currently working at Victoria or those about to take the bridging course there like me. :)

I am here in Australia waiting for my 457 visa... I didnt go back home anymore.. You will have your medical exam with HSA Group.. That is the accredited facility for immigration medical exams.. You will be instructed by your case officer about that once your application will be lodged.

Dudzy, I'm due to take the IRCON at ETEA this May 31, 2010 to August 31. My question is, if my bridging program's duration is 3 months, will the embassy give me exactly 3 months to stay for the 456 visa? What if I wanted to go a week earlier to OZ to adjust to the place and what about after the bridging course? Won't I need time to iron things out like look for an employer, paperworks etc? Thank you!

Confimed. NBV is experiencing delay. [not shocking though] I was given a briefing on the dates thye received my documents. :( Hope they'll have my ielts result soon, because accdg. to fedex tracking it's been in their BIG mailroom since Jan 4. :( ...and I still don't have a case manager. Goodbye deakin... ( i hope they extend) :p But Im thankful at least my documents were received. :) ZZZZzzzzz....

Hello people... I hope you will all continue informing us of what you will experience in Australia... It will be of great help!!! Chabeli, thanks for keeping in touch... Aelith had been so generous of information and so with Dudzky... I hope there will be many more like them...
