New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

MRSA is not a vaccine. It's a swab test. There is one in St lukes and the other one in Makati Med. Just ask for a doctor's order. :)

hello guys!

its nice to hear that everyone is bz on there papers. I'm still waiting for my board certificae bcoz it is not yet release until now.:cry::cry: i took the board nov 2008 and i still dont hav my board certificate... grrrr... I'm still waiting for my bOARD Certificate so that i can send my docs to NBV. I'm just hoping i can still take my BP before july 2010.

@CHABELI & GF

i've been in bendigo last week. just accompanied my friend on her medical exam at St.John of God Hosp. Its my first time to go in bendigo and its really a quiet place. but bendigo is much better compared to Swan hill in terms of the shops. I'm here in Swan Hill its a 2 hours drive from bendigo.. Enjoy your stay and bendigo.. Goodluck to your BP.

one more thing a friend of mine is a newly registered nurse here in swan hill and she also take her BP (i dont know where) but while shes taking the BP she applied here in Swan Hill and asked if they can sponsor her. indeed she's being sponsored for a resident visa (not sure if its a resident visa).

Hope to see you guys someday...

God Bless on all our endeavours...

@ryan09... is ETEA a cricos provider? if you're applying for student visa, you need a cricos provide right? I know this is not ur case, but maybe you know the answer. :)

are there any implications? i thought i read somewhere... an issue between taking a cricos or non-cricos and student visa application.... (or this is just me imagining things again?)

How's ETEA? ... i really prefer a uni, i wanna feel like a student once again minus the monthly allowance. :(

yes, ETEA is a CRICOS provider..:)

if your course provider is a cricos provider that means a student visa is needed...thats how i comprehend it.but im open for any corrections pls.)

"The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) is an Australian government register that lists all Australian education providers offering courses to people studying in Australia on student visas and the courses offered.".....:)

ETEA is alright i think..my former CI in the philippines finished her BP in there, @dudzy, also completed her BP in the same institution and they are now both working...just for the record, ETEA has the dearest course fee amongst the providers...

as for my case i chose a uni cos i just want to finished the course in a university and also for me to avail the scholarships....

if i wasnt offered a position by deakin my last option would be etea, but it doesnt really matter what we are after is to obtain a registration in australia...:D

ryan09 thank you for the added information i had a hard time searching for that in their website actually u saved my time ha ha ha! :D and was wondering why there is no may 2010 schedule? imsodizzy said her bp intake is may 2010. im quite confused.

!

hi, those dates ive posted are subject to change though...

maybe shes referring to the actual class date which is in may...april 27 might be just an orientation day for the students...

@imsodizzy, needs to confirm it...

like for me, tomorrow is our orientation day at Deakin University, and the start of classes will be on monday,,,

hi jaybadette,

Chabeli will be doing their clinicals in St. John of God hospital and Bendigo hospital, next week they will do accute clinicals at the aged care hospital. heard about swan hill, is it closer to echuca already? Yup, that's what chabeli and the rest are doing. Maybe 1 month before they end, they will start looking for employer. actually, most of the regional cities will sponsor right away for resident visa... as for us, things are also good here in Bendigo so just in case, habeli ends up working here in Bendgio then it's fine although it'll be harder for me to get a job here.

Keep in touch!

@ryan im not sure if it was chabeli who mentioned etea is not cricos provider? [i stand corrected if im wrong] how much is the BP in ETEA anyway? :)

@drednag and reiken, to prevent the long queue i stay uplate to make sure im the first caller -exactly -8:30am melbourne time while over here 'tis 12:30am. Thanks to the daylight saving time, i dont need to stay til 1:30am.

plus im using VoIP, melbourne landline is free. :)

all we can do now is pray and anticipate any further actions that we have to take like what reiken said. let's not loose our optimism and always keep the faith. :) as my kiwi friend and I would always say: This too shall pass. -LOTR

and somehow let's be thankful we have one another, we [all] do not know each other personally, yet comfort is always felt from warm words of many. :)

Hi, do someone who will undergo bp needs to bring original copy of documents like TOR, Board Certificate etc in Oz? TIA!

I got my swine flu vaccine here in Oz and it was the Uni that facilitated it for us. No charge if you have the OSHC, (overseas students health coverage). it's kinda hard to get a flu vaccine, late in the year or early in the year because they change it annually. the other vaccines i got from the Philippines, mostly the pediatricians facilitate it. i got a certification from them as well and a baby book.

thanks for the info.. i have my baby book with me.. ill ask my uni for my MRSA.. thanks again... :)

MRSA is not a vaccine. It's a swab test. There is one in St lukes and the other one in Makati Med. Just ask for a doctor's order. :)

curtin's vaccine form included MRSA on the list of vaccine spec if you are working in a hosp. for 12mos prior to travel to aus. maybe i have to confirm it.. thanks for the info.:)

newmac and reiken, thanks!!! you are right, let's keep our hopes up...anytime soon, we'll be in Oz!!!:up::up:

@ryan i thought you said [wrote] etea's cheaper?
