New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hello sis! yes, i was accepted at etea for sept 7 intake! did you know somebody who will be joining the sept intake?

Welcome sunmoonlight,

the prices of these agencies seem to be increasing drastically despite the economic condition, the forum however is still the cheapest way to go since you have all 268 pages of useful information..and asking is always free..just read the forum and you will find all that you may need to go about and do it yourself and save yourself that amount they are asking yo..

@isay I was wondering what they they ask you to resubmit..thank you for answering my question...the knowledge that waiting for more than 1 month was something that caught me by surprise.. good luck on the IELTS. i know you can do and who knows we might even end up taking the CAS the same time...

Hi Nyk, They asked me to resubmit my application form with the statutory declaration notarized. I was not able to have it notorized when i submitted my docs the first time. They also asked for evidence of identification (Birth Cert and Marriage contract), Board Certificate, and letter of good standing from PRC. You can follow up with qnc thru email. They are responsive and very professional. :wink2:

Thanks chocokat79. :) I'm so looking forward to having my sister here with me in Australia, that's why i can't wait. hehe! Regarding the IELTS before submitting the QNC requirements, that's also what i understood. I'll just have my sister take the IELTS while waiting for PRC to release her cert. awtz. :p

Thanks to allnurses.com for this very informative thread, I just passed the June 2009 board exam & really looking forward to working abroad considering the plight of nursing here in the Philippines. Is it possible to undergo the bridging program in Australia without hospital experience? I'm reading through this thread as I'm typing this, but it can be quite daunting, it's so huge! :=)

excuse me,

how should i correctly write on my documents my cellphone number so that for sure i will be contacted by the institution/agencies in Australia.. Example, if my cp number is 09171234567, then i would just write my number as like that? or should i write like this: +639171234567 ??

Hope anyone could help.. thanks..

i'm not sure about the required years of experience since it was not stated in their site but when i applied i had a year and 3 months experience (volunteer work @ the hospital and clinic) :)

hello lecna31 and everybody,

it seems that "volunteer" experience is recognized and counted as an "experience" by said agency.

will a "certificate of training" in a hospital count too as an "experience"?

What do you think?

Thanks..

thank you all for replying on my inquiries esp chabeli, nykhouston2003, and Izay... i have browsed over the thread and i decided to do the process on my own... and yes i can save a lot... i still have not taken ielts... soo im planning to take it first week of sept... i also tried calling la trobe and emailed them.. my concern is if i can make it this coming january :( i would really appreciate if u guys pm or email me or we can call each other if u are in manila and can talk about this matter... im certain to do this and quite in a rush before they change their requirements by next year... (re: need experience) im quite frustrated with whats goin on with US economy.. and my US eb3 application (packet 3) .. I would really want to pursue this opportunity! :( thank you very much!

lecna31 .... if its not too much to ask.. can u pm me of your ym or any ways i can contact u easily please? im quite new here i cant reply via pm :( thank you in advance! :)

Can i apply for IRON program of ramsay health even if I am not an Australian citizen? 5500 aud bridging course fee is too good to be true..

I'm really interested in working in Australia, however, as I said in my previous post I have no hospital experience whatsoever. I'm planning on taking the IELTS exam as soon as possible, what would be the logical next step afterwards?

hi cioman! i'm not sure if they will accept the "certificate of training" as an experience...but if you are referring to training cum volunteer work, i think it is better to ask for a Reference letter from the head nurse or nursing director. the content of the reference letter should include the period of your training/volunteer work in the hospital and the areas/wards where you were assigned. hope this helps :wink2:

hi chocokat79 and nykhouston2003.. i know you applied in qld nursing council.. i just need help in answering the competence declaration particularly the questions in letters a b and d.. i have no years long experience. only 2 months volunteer. should i tick all the false boxes of letters a b and d?

thank u so so much
