New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi guys...

For the people sending out additional requirements to QNC. how long does it take once they receive the additional paper work? how long is the waiting period for them to reply for reassessing the application.

Hope someone has the answer..

Hi guys! It's been a while since I last posted here... Been busy procrastinating with my review hehehe! The books are sooooo boring i always struggle to keep my eyes open. Anyway, I can't wait to receive my assessment! Still a month and a half to go :uhoh3:

Do you guys think it will benefit me (for the theoretical nursing part of the CAS)if I attend a formal NCLEX review? I am also set to take that exam before this year ends. So what do you think? Like hitting 2 birds with one stone?

guys..newbie here..do you happen to know if we can still take the bridging course on june 2010..given that they will start the national registration on july 2010?im soo stressed!

If you have the time and money..my friends all went to kaplan..did them good they all passed...

Studying will just add to your wealth of knowledge ..no harm in doing so chocokat..

Still a month and half to go for you..your 3 months of waiting will finally be over soon..who knows maybe we both get the letter the same time..hehe

@jmusic, sorry i can't PM yet. only have 10 posts. I did my Certificate III in Aged Care through New Future's Training in Coburg (near Melbourne). it's $750, 4 days in class and 80hrs placement. it's inexpensive and fast compared to others (most of them give the training for $2000)... i have a spouse visa, not a student...

@lecna31, yeah, i'm referring to ETEA. i wasn't aware that "Education Training Employment Australia" was the ETEA you guys were talking about :D see you here in oz! i'll give you my contact details when i'm already able to PM.

@ryan09, forget the things i mentioned in the email, what's important is the list :D lol

@ chiaren, what's your email address, i'll send you the list...

@to everybody else asking about the agency, it's called Nursing One World. it's an affiliate of ETEA. according to the person i spoke with, i'd be able to get at least $800/week then depending on the contract i can pay the agency $250/fortnight. i'm not sure if this is available to nurses not currently here in oz. i'd have to get more info...
