Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
good day fellow nurses! I NEED YOUR HELP. i just received a letter from qnc today regarding my application. it is stated in the letter that my application has been assessed as incomplete and i need to provide them this document: COURSE DESCRIPTORS AND THEORETICAL BREAKDOWN OF HOURS.
Course DEscriptions can be requested from the University where you studied...
Theoretical Breakdown can also be requested from the school...we called this...RLE Summary,
just contact the Nursing Department in ur school and I'm sure they know these documents
Hope it helps
good day fellow nurses! I NEED YOUR HELP. i just received a letter from qnc today regarding my application. it is stated in the letter that my application has been assessed as incomplete and i need to provide them this document: COURSE DESCRIPTORS AND THEORETICAL BREAKDOWN OF HOURS. i know that i already sent them a copy of this document. it also says that "assessment of your application indicates that you have to provide a clear breakdown of the theoretical hours of the nursing course that you completed" does it mean that all the subjects in the course description must have the number of hours including the minor subjects? do i make sense?
e.g. english 1 ( description of the subject) (number of credit units) (number of hours)? is this how it suppose to look like? the document i sent them does not have the number of hours for the minor subjects?
PLS HELP ME!!
Hi weyv891,
Yup FARAH, its just the RLE summary normally it includes the hours of per subject and what the subject is about. I'm so envious everyone is getting there assessment and I'm still waiting. May i ask weyv891 what date was on your acknowledgment letter ? Good luck with the additional paper work.

yup...exactly....its stated that they want a clear breakdown...so I suggest, just follow what they required you to do. You can ask the Registrar's office regarding this matter. In my school, when they provided me a Course Description, it is with complete details (description, no of units/credits, no of lecture hours, and if its a nursing subject, it includes a no of RLE hours)
Chill out!
Hi to all people in this thread...Im a new member here but I've been reading this thread for the past 3 months now....I can relate to your topics, coz I am also waiting for my eligibility letter from NBV, but my problem is I got a 6.5 in writing in IELTS....and I'm afraid to take it again coz writing is really my weakness...
I am considering the option of enrolling in a Nursing school in Aus, which do credit some major subjects here and take Bachelor in Nursing for a 1 year duration and after graduating I can register in NBV without taking IELTS and Bridging Program anymore
Do you think this option would be wise?
Thanks...I need your advice:o
why don't you try IELTS again until december 2009...there might be some changes already next year with the registration process as it will not be NBV anymore who will be the regulating body but the ANMC for the national accreditation...it would be best to take advantage of the current assessment of NBV since your halfway through it.. review and practice more writing.... i'll be retaking this july 23 too i got a 6 in my writing and all else were good.... let's continue to pray and keep on trying....

Hi! Farah, Don't be afraid let's just take it again, I mean retake the IELTS with no fear. We are not going anywhere if we will not fight and face our weakness..Me and you had the same experience with IELTS..then we'll go for it.. Good luck to all of us. God bless us all.
By the way, about your option of enrolling BSN? if you can do that I think it's a wise decision. But how much will
it cost you for the whole year?? Please keep me posted if you will proceed on this plan. Okay. Don't worry God has a purpose with our lives. I know He will lead us the way. P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E.
Hi Chabeli and 4vida,
i really appreciate your concern:redbeathe
yeah, you are right, i must be more courageous to face the challenge of "IELTS writing part"
What weakens me is that, i think i already did my best in writing and yet I only got 6.5....
However, people like you brings back my strength...thanks for that
4vida, Flinders University in Adelaide offers 1yr Bachelor in Nursing for RN overseas, like us.
The total course fee is $16,700...after graduating you can register w/ Nurses Board of South Australia and eventually you can reciprocate it w/ NBV or elsewhere...(its costly but tempting)
BTW, I am expecting my letter from NBV until July 22...as they usually said, the assessment takes 1 month

Hello Farah and welcome to the thread :)
I understand how you feel and hope that you'll find the courage to give it another try. Studying in Australia is a bit on the expensive side especially if you are only going to study for 1 year which gives you the same result with that of a bridging program, which is the 457 working visa. I personally don't recommend the 1 year program unless you really feel that, that is the only option you feel comfortable with because it'll only make you pay more for the same effect. Two years of study has more benefits, however, it is also more expensive.
6.5 is just a scratch away from 7.0 I believe you can make it to 7.0. If you are really thinking of studying, the intake will not be until Feb of 2010 so why not make use of the time before that and practice as much as you can then re-take your IELTS. Don't let your fears hold you back, have a little faith.
Goodluck dear~ :) AJA!

Thanks for that!!! My IELTS score is qualified with the University's requirements, in fact, I'm also waiting for the Offer Letter from them...So, really weighing my options A)Retake IELTS and if successful, enrol in a bridging program or B) Enrol in the University...and yes..its pretty much more expensive than BP
Thanks again....and hope I'll have the courage to take IELTS again...:icon_roll
