New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi! chabeli, thanks for the further information about OET. But if it's worth to spend why not..hahaha I'm quite fed up with my results. I also develop a trauma in sitting again with ielts. I cannot concentrate anymore.:D And OET they have a good deal with the examinee right?

One question, if you don't mind my asking..Is it posible to enroll in deakin uni. even without english result? of course after the assessment? Just wondering hehehe

As far as I know, you cannot enroll without the english exam but you can apply without "it" however, you just have to follow up your result before they can give you the offer letter.

Hi there! The venue would be IDP Australia. I also researchd about that coz about a few days before my IELTS result came I was really anxoius about my scores, thinking that I would do the OET if ever I fail the IELTS. Thank God I passed! But anyway, yeah the venue would be IDP Australia, Pinoeer Bldg. (or is it Pioneer House?) in Makati along Paseo de Roxas. I personally asked someone there at their counter. They say that they hold the exams but you'll have to register online yourself. And if I'm not mistaken, the next schedule would be August 8 :D.

thanks chocokat for the input.:yeah:I will register soon so that I can make a reservation already. I have to plan everything first, coz I'm still busy with my hospital duties this time, secondly, I'm from davao, too many steps to do the exam in Manila. I heard that IELTS in Manila is twice a month is this true? I really need to pass this English proficiency test coz NMBWA is waiting for this, by hook or by crook. hahaha. Thanks again and God bless us all.

Thanks Aelith, It's clear to me now. Take care and God bless you.:D

Yes 4vida, IELTS is held twice a month here. Why not try IELTS first? I think I have also read in OET's website that the results take a little bit longer to be released compared to IELTS. :nuke:

Hey guys, just wanna ask, is there anybody here who received their QNC acknowledgement letter and who's application has been selected for a criminal history audit? So do I have to submit both Police Clearance and NBI Clearance? Sorry but I can't remember if I've read somewhere in this thread or in another thread about this particular issue. My apologies in advance...

Hay... just thought that I'm done with my paperwork with this one. :(

hi chabeli, can i ask if you are in the philippines? if so, what visa are you planning to apply? Coz i'm also planning to enroll in deakin uni if i get my decision from NBV before september. thanks...

i have been selected for that audit. i passed the police clearance which is particularly for overseas purposes but my sister in aus said that nbi clearance will do.

Thanks chocokat for your advice. I had thought about it too for the second time. I just wish I have the courage again. as I've said in my previous post that my taboo is "writing". I made a lot of thinking about the OET fee. True it's really expensive.:D Can you give some tips with the WRITING thing..hehehe It would be muchly appreciated. Good luck and God bless..

Hi to all people in this thread...Im a new member here but I've been reading this thread for the past 3 months now....

I can relate to your topics, coz I am also waiting for my eligibility letter from NBV, but my problem is I got a 6.5 in writing in IELTS....and I'm afraid to take it again coz writing is really my weakness...

I am considering the option of enrolling in a Nursing school in Aus, which do credit some major subjects here and take Bachelor in Nursing for a 1 year duration and after graduating I can register in NBV without taking IELTS and Bridging Program anymore

Do you think this option would be wise?

Thanks...I need your advice:o

Don't give up!!!!!.Take the exam again while waiting for your eligibility, anyway you are given plenty of time to provide the required score to NBV.I got 5.5 in writing, and I'm planning to retake the exam again this July 23.I felt really bad,but oh well it's just normal ;).

Try to check the University you are planning to enroll,if they require 7 in writing then you do still need to retake the exam.I think it's better to take the bridging program since it is a shorter program and cheaper compared to the 1 yr. nursing pre-registration course. Anyway, you'll still get a license.

To all those in the same predicament, here's a thought to ponder...

"I do not think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature." --John D. Rockefeller

So never give up. Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another.

Good day to all! :-)

good day fellow nurses! I NEED YOUR HELP. i just received a letter from qnc today regarding my application. it is stated in the letter that my application has been assessed as incomplete and i need to provide them this document: COURSE DESCRIPTORS AND THEORETICAL BREAKDOWN OF HOURS.
