New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You need to check with the NZ nursing board that they will accept ADN. All information will be on their website

Hehehe! Yeah I noticed that too. I would come here at night for the past week but it seems that I was the only one visiting this thread. Anyway, I will be here more often again as I am already done with my IELTS. Just waiting for the result... :uhoh21: I have also mailed my QNC application form yesterday. So I know I'm in for the long wait....

Anyway, hope you receive your NBV letter soon. :D

Not yet. I'm going for next year's intake.. I have an unofficial offer now yey :D Have you started with your application already?

Hi Aelith! thnks 4 ur reply. I havent submitted my application yet. I was just informed that I should apply as an Australian student since i am already a resident here ( no idea about this) thought all along that im considered as international student since i finished my degree in the phils. So i need to contact the student centre and ask what i need to do. Anyway, im scheduled to take the ielts this sept. Hopefully if my score is good enough for uni then i'l probably enroll feb 2010.

Cheers

hi nurses, just heard the news from an australian tv news program, that the nursing shortage in australia is chronic...with the constant building of nursing homes and hospitals a lot of nurses are badly needed...:D

hi chocokat... i hope to receive the NBV letter within the next 2 weeks because it was only amendmended application already.... so hopefully no more corrections to be made... the first application i did--the passport was incorrectly certified so i had to redo it and submitted my RLC too... it wasn't part of the requirement checklist at first but they still asked for it...

I'm really hoping it will come on time as they promised. in the email they said, they are able to process application within 30 days.

Ooops by the way, im retaking IELTS on July 23. I'm still reviewing... i didn't meet 7.0 in the writing part--i got a 6.0... hopefully, everything goes well in time for the deadline of deakin which is first monday of september..
