New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

hi nursemavi,

thanks for sharing your info's. actually nmbwa did not ask me for this certification of good standing but nevertheless i will follow on through with this. furthermore can you pm me for exact address about the place that you are staying now. if lucky i want to stay also where you are staying now. by the way what hospital are you doing your bp? i am attaching the letter of nmbwa stating the still needed documents from me. hope this will clarify my situation. thanks a lot.

hi patuman, i would just like to clarify the reqs for eligibility in western aus. is hospital experience really required? is there any chance those of us who are still unemployed might get in? if not, do they consider post-grad trainings (1month only) as experience? i'm sure i'm not the only one having the same problem. hope you can share some info regarding this. thanks thanks!:D

Hi to all, I would just like to share that after doing CAS thru CQUniversity, finally, QNC has told me that I'm already eligible to be registered in QLD, They're now just waiting for my license fee payment. :yeah::yeah::yeah:I hope that everyone who is and who will be doing the CAS program will be encourage by this. What patuman01 stated is very true, you don't need any agent..QNC and CAS are very clear on their instructions, you just have to understand them. And if you stiil have any questions, you can always go to this forum and I'm sure there are a lot of people here who will be very willing to help.

hi branyan,

Congratulations!!! (>__

yeah, you really encourage me~ By the way, you're right that we can do everything on our own. I believe we can do that too.

For me, I sent my application to QLD on Dec 2008 and they asked me to send them the police clearance. I have sent the police clearance to them on Jan 2009. I also took IELTS on 31 Jan,2009 that I will know my score tomorrow.

Again, really congrats ^^

or do QNC approved a nurse's application for CAS eventhough a nurse is inexperience at all?

i am just a newly registered nurse and havent got any experience at all, can i be eligible in taking the CAS?

You can apply :)

The only problem you'll encounter is your license in the Philippines since your newly registered. If PRC can provide you the required docx for the registration in Australia then it'll be okay.

hi Aelith,

thanks...i hope they will accept my apllication and they will let me do the CAS without having me an experience...

do you know somebody who did/ or will be doing the CAS without having a work experience? i am worried that they might send my application to ANMC?

can you enlighten me please...thanks.

PS: Aelith, all of my PRC docs are already settled...no worries about that. my only worry is the QNC/CAS.

Hi Luna, I'll try to answer you as for what I understood from infos of NMBWA websites (this was last year)http://www.nmbwa.org.au/3/2109/50/registration_process_for_overseas_applicants.pm

I gather that the government requires 2 years experience for us to be eligible to register. But to make things clear and sure, communicate with them and just follow thru. Read previous pages on these thread. Have patience, for you can have more infos. It is just up to you to understand which is applicable to your situation. This is what I did and I do get conflicting ideas tho' but in the end , guys here help a lot or shall we say shared a lot. Aelith and nursemavi do shared much I think, I can advice you to read their thread and they do respond immediately (he he):yeah::yeah::yeah:

GOOD LUCK AND KEEP YOUR INTENTIONS CLEAN AND PURE.

Of course branyan encourage us more lately.

ADVANCE HAPPY VALENTINES TO EVERYBODY!!!!

@ryan09

I think there'll be no problem on your application with QNC even though you don't have any experience. I for one didn't have any "paid experience" or I was never employed as a nurse. I think experience will matter more when you do the clinicals, it's hard to do the clinicals without having any knowledge on handling patients or you lack a "clinical eye". Nurses in OZ expects (based on personal experience) that you already know what to do and that you're there to demonstrate your competence since you're already a registered nurse in your country.

Hi hotpotato101,

Hi Potato,

If my memory serves me right, I never did try to take any pathway yet but as of now I am still hurdling for the NMBWA way (Perth). But I do inquire infos for QLD too. What did happened is that I just take somewhat "suntok sa buwan" in inquiring to NMBWA and they do responded to my enquiry promptly which led me to follow thru. I am not working currently, still looking for some. he he.

I replied here to your PM coz this is in connection to my previous posts, that we can do it by ourselves if we will just take the courage to make inquiries to authorities or offices pertaining our intentions. Just be polite enough and use the education our parents spent for.

More power to everybody. Have a clean heart. That is all what it takes.

hi, does it mean that before you do the clinicals, they will look first to your experience before they will admit you into the clinicals? is it a requirement before doing the clinicals?
