Hi all!!! Is anyone out there applying for the Nurse Education Loan Repayment for 2011..I came across the thread for 2010 but was just looking for some additional support...ahhhh!!!!!!!! Its so stressful!

maybe he meant to say a couple of weeks instead of days? maybe this week or next? i counted that we only have 36 days left that the mail runs to be notified so they better get on the ball. i am going to predict that we will hear the first rounds of whoohoo's next tues? any guesses out there?????? :idea:

Goingcrazy - I have no clue! This is unbelievable- I can't believe Richard c told ya'll your contract starts august 22nd and nobody has heard squat. This is ridiculous. Uuugghh

So.. I wonder if that means letters will arrive then? Or if that's when they start signing??

Im sorry everyone is so anxious! I posted back in May or June sometime and this is the second time I have recieved an "email" asking for banking information etc...I was not awarded the first time due to a credit report issue. If you got the emails then you are on to the next round, does not mean you were awarded, just closer. Last year people began recieving direct deposits before the "snail" mail arrived in their boxes shortly after. I guess being in your shoes last year (anxious!) I can understand how everyone feels. I got my email on July 22nd after thinking I was not going to get one but I was one of the last emails sent out. I am on the "gold" team in TX and with about 140% in loan debt. In my opinion all emails are sent out and the next round of cuts is next. The fiscal year starts September 1st for DSHS and thats when they can sign the letters and award folks. I hope this relieves some anxiety and I may have caused some for others. Good luck all....

  • nurse education loan repayment program (nelrp)
    recovery act funding totals $8.1 million. those funds, awarded competitively, will help 100 registered nurses pay their nursing education debts. the program repays 60 percent of the loan balance of registered nurses in exchange for two years of service at facilities with a critical shortage of nurses. (for a list of facilities employing the first 100 nelrp award winners from arra funds, go to http://newsroom.hrsa.gov/releases/2009/nelrprecips.htm) participants may be eligible to work a third year and receive additional repayment assistance.

I think in previous years, people were getting awarded before September. And most people got the award letters about 5-6 weeks after the initial email contact. I think that's why we're all so anxious. It's been 5 weeks for most of us in the first round of emails. Also, last year they awarded over 900 nurses for initial awards, so thankfully, that's way more than 2 per state! I think that link just talks about the first 100 nurses awarded that year.

Now if only they would start awarding us!

Jmedina46 i have a question that you may reply in a private message, the credit report thing was it just because of a bad credit score, which I have, or something else? I was just wondering because of most of the people on this thread, should have a very unbalanced debt to income ratio from all the % of loan debt. I just now have a reason to think I might not get this because of a poor credit rating

Wow I go on vacation for a week and this board explodes! Guess I should have been reading while gone because boy did it take me awhile to read all of these posts.

Sully-I also received the same August 22nd contract info from Richard C. I have also not gotten anything in the mail yet and am getting very antsy! I can't wait to hear SOMETHING......

Isn't this just so frustrating! I wonder if we will just end up with big deposits at some point and get mailed later. If August 22nd comes and goes with nothing I will get VERY concerned. Good Luck everyone!

Jmedina- How do you know this? When did the fiscal year end last year? Because people received contracts as early as mid July if you read the previous blogs. How do you even know the fiscal year corelates with when the contracts are signed? The HRSA emails even said the contracts would start being signed in August, and apparently some people are already under contract, so why would you think none are being signed until September? Makes no sense to me... Just wondering! Thanks! :D

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, Suzy. That would be very weird and crazy if we didn't hear anything in Sept because of this fiscal year thing. I don't get it. Is that really the reason why people aren't hearing anything yet? Because that sucks. Esp cause why on earth did Richard C tell someone their contract starts Aug 22nd!?? None of this makes any sense to me, especially why this year, of all years, they are taking forever to notify the awardees. I am starting to get really scared...

One of the other ppl should ask RC what's going on and when the letters are supposed to start being sent. He seems like a blabbermouth, lol.
