As far as I can tell the state by state theory was a myth I started based on poor wording choice in the slides from the class my wife was in. It made it appear that the state was recieving awards and then handing them out--when in fact it would appear Iowans were winning the awards and the state was just claiming how many of the winners had came from Iowa. That would also explain the variation in the numbers of winners that significantly exceeded the variation in total funds allotted to the program. Either Iowa would have to be increasing and decreasing its share percentage wise in subsequent years, or some years we simply had a few more indebted students living in Iowa than other years. IMO That makes more sense. They take so long from the application process. I really wish they would do this twice per year with an automatic update system so it wouldn't take as long as to get entered. We're looking at a 16 month wait to find out if she'll get an award--since we can't apply her until next year. She didn't start work as an RN until early March.

At least she has a good hospital with good Nurses to work alongside her. :nurse:

I don't believe you will know if they contact your lender. All the forms we provided them give them permission to check our accounts which can be done via automatic lines. If you provided these numbers, which I'm sure many of us did they only need our personal info and account number, which they have. Do not be discouraged of your lender says no one has checked for this reason, especially the large lenders. Those of you scared to check your credit. Free credit report you can check all 3 companies seperately, meaning 3 times. However the HRSA may only use one of the companies, I do not know. I do know the waiting stinks! Just thought I'd share this info.

According to the blogs last year, when they send you that verification email the first time, and you sign the contract, they ask for all of your banking information. One way or another they will put the money in your account if you get the award...IF YOU get the award! That's the main part.

Soooo, one of my lenders said no. One seemed confused by my question. And the third said someone had called 2 days before my loan dates changed on the website. I really think it depends on who you talk to! I feel slightly better... even though this doesn't mean anything.

Has anyone heard anything else??

Oh and I think I saw they checked my report on Experian... if anyone wants to look that hasn't!

Picurn1972- I hope you're right about the larger companies/lenders not showing any payoff inquires! Still though I would've thought Direct Loans would be considered larger than Mygreatlakes since it's through the government. I'm going with your theory though because it makes me happy! Lol

Hi All,

There's been a lot of posts since the last time I checked...

I noticed via my credit report that HRSA checked it back in March. Also, in regards to those who have Sallie Mae... I did get correspondence that HRSA checked my acct. You need to click on "View correspondence" on the main page, And click on the "outbound correspondence" tab. My document was titled "confirmation regarding your account request" Note- that I only have a document from "dept of education" tab NOT Sallie Mae tab.

Hope this helps!

Sweetmeggy22, that's my fear. When did you get this correspondence?? I got a credit check as well but never any correspondence. And I've been checking this place! It is making me sad. DO you think they send everyone correspondence?? This sucks

And what do you mean you only have a document from dept of education tab not sallie Mae?

Amy, I didn't receive any correspondence, but one of my lenders told me someone had asked for information about my loans. So I'm not sure it's a physical document. I'm just hoping if they checked one, they checked them all!

What lender? ANd do you have loans from sallie Mae. And if so were they the ones who told u that?

I have direct loans, some through ACS and Sallie Mae. ACS is the one that told me that HRSA had inquired about my loans.
