hi guys, ive asked this question before but i really really have to be sure that i dont need to take my NLE here in the philippines to be able to get a CES (georgia) coz ill be leaving for the states pretty soon and i have to make sure, thanks guys

I have had two responses, but nothing about what I was asking. They answered for the VSC, and about US license. So sent the third e-mail roday. Will keep sending until I get the answer about the NLE and the CES.

hi arl1065...did you apply for CES online or thru paper application? Did they ever asked/waited for your License Validation? Did you submit your letter indicating that you have never taken local board together with your application or only after they have indicated in your status online that your License Validation is "Waiting to be Received"? I hope you can share the succession of events that transpired in your application...

Because I received an email notification from CGFNS that they already received my letter but I do not see yet any change in the status regarding my License Validation? I am just concerned that not until they change that "Waiting to be Received" thing no review of credentials can occur...

Thanks in advance.

I just want to share that I have a friend who ended up taking the NLE. She thought that CGFNS wouldnt require NLE anymore (She called CGFNS, emailed them) but her VISA SCREEN wouldnt be issued so she decided to take the NLE and her VISA SCREEN was released. So better take the NLE. It's not required to take NCLEX but CGFNS or IMMIGRATION because I remembered last year when I filed my papers, the lawyer attached copy of my PHIL LICENSE along with VISA SCREEN CERTIFICATE. I guess it will depend on who's the consul who's gonna approve your paper. Apart from saying that you're NCLEX-passed, BSN-educated, you would want them to know that your licensed in your country, right? Dont let them have any doubts.

this excerpt from the mail send to CGFNS regarding local boards- but then things can change- this was last year. You may want to ask again. It is easy just go to CORRESPONDENCE section of the CGFNS website after logging in. They usually reply fast.

I want to find out if PRC is required for Visa Screen. What if i didnt take the local board exam? Is this required?

Answer:

Please advise your friend that the VisaScreen application requires the NCLEX or the CP exam, not both. If your friend received her nursing education in the Philippines but did not become a practicing registered nurse until she moved to the United States, she can apply for the VisaScreen certificate.

// Again it's not clear so better clarify with them. I hope i was able to help a little.

anything yet guys?

And notice, there is no mention of the NLE in their response. And a license from the Philippines plays no part in immigration for the US, only if the nurse has a VSC. And that is where the issue is coming up and that was surrounding last summer's exam. And all of the associated problems frim that point on. If the exam was never taken, there was never an issue.

Has been mentioned a few times but NO you do not need to take local boards but if you have taken them and failed you have to declare the same if taken nd passed. You need to subit a letter saying you haven't taken local boards. Do not lie to them

Hi. can someone post the list of states that doesn't need to pass the local boards here in the philippines to apply for nclex-rn exam?tnx

You should really concentrate with looking at where you want to live and what that state board of nursing requires, especially with retrogression in progress as there is no quick way to get to the US you will just join the queue like lots of others in front of you. You are also not applying for NCLEX but licensure to work as a RN in the US of which NCLEX is part of that process.

suzanne, are there any updates regarding the cgfns reply to your email about the NLE and CES?

hi silverdragon and suzanne,... i've been reading and visiting your blogs and comments for a while now. from your understanding and probably experience, can you give give me a state(s), a really good one that have the riches of both worlds so to speak when it comes to high regular salary for nurses as compared to low cost of living. I really find it difficult to choose one. I already have my application and fingerprint cards for BON California but I have second thoughts of applying there. It seems that a lot of Filipino nurses are going there also. I'm asking for your opinion. Thanks. More power to you guys

btw,is it ok if apply for both CES and CGFNS? some states requires only CES but still I want to have a CGFNS certificate because it's a plus for my credentials right? Is CGFNS valid for state requiring only for CES? I'm confused on this matter

We can't really decide a state for you but what I would suggest is have a look at what you and your family (if any) are looking for in the US ie lifestyle and weather.

I really would not bother with the CGFNS exam unless you really intent to go to a state that requires it. The numbers of states that require it now are low and may even get lower.
