hi guys, ive asked this question before but i really really have to be sure that i dont need to take my NLE here in the philippines to be able to get a CES (georgia) coz ill be leaving for the states pretty soon and i have to make sure, thanks guys

my goodness... this is such a bad news.. now im too late to take my NLE coz before, everyone tells me that i dont need it, and now all the sudden bam! i need it after all!

i might just apply in cali and endorse to georgia since thru endorsment (in GA) im no longer required to have my CES (according to their website) i might just do this, coz its really too late for me to take the NLE and frankly i really dont want to..

That's why we recommend that you make an e-mail inquiry directly to either CGFNS, if undergoing the CES or to your State BON if going through a State such as CA that does their own evaluation. Don't presume anymore that it will still be the same. They may just change their rules and policies as well. They can change it anytime. Better to be sure than sorry. Also, don't presume that if something is still written or posted on their website that it's still being followed. Websites aren't updated on the fly. It takes time to update information on websites. We have seen this happening all the time. They usually post new info, on newsletters or new info. options, etc... if they have some changes to be made public right away and an e-mail is one of those that gives you immediate response.

Better e-mail both those State BON for truly updated info. and direct from the source at that.

ok thanks Lawrence ill do that.. Suzanne thanks also for emailing CGFNS for us, that would be really helpful

ill post whatever i find out immediately..

ok i just tried to email them now, and apparently GA BON doesnt have an email (its true, looked everywhere..) and i can only contact them thru a landline which i cant really do right now.. this is very frustrating.. after 4 years of nursing school ud think your done with the hard part..

School is only the beginning of the process, do not think that anything is over at this point. And at one time, everyone was required to have their local license, and this was just a couple of years ago when the CGFNS exam was still mandatory for all states.

Suspect that it may go back to that because of issues that have come up from your country. And unfortunately, there have been many. Could almist fill up a book with just what I am aware of. And that is the unfortunate part of it.

hi

I graduated last october. I applied for CES report last January and stated in a letter that I have never taken the local board exams because I do not have plans to work in my country. Got my CES report last Feb.

But now, I change my mind. I want to also take the local board exams this June. Will i have problems with getting the visascreen several months from now? Should I have to write to CGFNS that i've changed my mind? I already have ATT (IL BON) last april.

This kind of changes aren't usually retrovert. They usually don't hold it against you if you have already done the process using the old policies and rules so I wouldn't be worried much about it. Can they take it against you? No, they can't. So, I honestly think you are safe. These alleged changes will only affect those yet to apply or just in the process of it.

I would be more worried about the Visa Screening Certification if CGFNS will require Philippine licensure as mandatory for eligibility. If they do, and by the way people has been abusing and circumventing their VSC process lately, they might just do it. And if PI licensure is mandatory for VSC then you really have to take the NLE and it wouldn't matter w/c State are one is applying for licensure since to be able to migrate everyone is required to have the VSC.

Right now, CGFNS hasn't announce any thing about mandatorily requiring PI licensure for VSC but we think it won't be long until they do.

Also, it may be too late to register for the June NLE. Try and check first if they still are taking-in registrants for it.

thanks lawrence...

i already went to prc last monday. Registration for nle is until may 11.

Good. Are you taking it then? Have you reviewed long enough for it?

yes, i'll be taking the nle this june 10-11. i hope i can prepare in a month time. i've downloaded the imci and will buy some review materials suggested in this forum, like sia's and udan. But I've read the saunder's book. it took me four months to finish it. Do you think my review for nclex will suffice for nle also?

Just one month preparation for NLE is a bit stretching it I think. There are only a few "NCLEX-type" questionnaires there and generally NLE questions are formulated differently from NCLEX-type questions and some NLE questions are very subjective.

The community health nursing (CHN) part is localized and you can only answer CHN questions if you read the whole local CHN book.

Those who prepared just 2-3 months for it also finds it hard to pass it on their 1st try. Less than 50% passes it. Even some schools that prepares their students for NLE for more than 6 mos. traditionally only have less than 50-60% passing rate for all their graduates.

Your choice. Good luck.

any news from CGFNS anyone??

They sent me one answer, but I needed more information from them before posting that response. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow.

They answered my question based on what a state wants, but not what CGFNS wants for the CES and I wanted that clarified.

Any reply from CGFNS?
