2nd attempt - Passed with 149questions

Published

After failing NCLEX for the first time, I went into a deep depression. It got to a point where I thought I should seek counseling. I started reading on all nurses.com that I wasn't the only one that failed. I would say that the stories on here gave me some motivation to continue on. I will admit that it took weeks before I started studying hardcore. First attempt was at the end of October. I took the KAPLAN anywhere class in December and started hardcore studying after the holidays. During the time I took off, I had to stop talking to most of my friends because they all passed NCLEX and were moving on with their lives while I felt "stuck." My plans after passing NCLEX was to move back home to Florida and work. Feeling "stuck" really sucked and I couldn't get out of that hole.

After the holidays, I finally decided to schedule a test date and force myself to study. I mainly used Kaplan Qtrainer questions, Qbank, also used LaCharity Prioritization book (I highly recommend) and casually used ATI.

On Monday, I went to the testing center. The testing center's 2nd person was late so all of us had to wait 30 minutes until we could start testing. You can only imagine what we were all thinking and how much our minds were wandering in anxiety.

Before the exam began, I asked how the erase boards would work because I started to write down which answers I would eliminate and why before picking my answer. It would help reduce the risk of second guessing myself. The test center said "we will replace your board if you need a new one but most people don't usually need more than 1." Well, I needed 3. Each time I filled a board, I would take a break to refresh and go back to work. During the exam, I was upset that my exam didn't stop at 75 so I kept going. I thought for sure that I was about to do 265 AGAIN so when I was about ready to ask for a 4th board, the test ended and I had to do the survey.

Overall, my nursing school average was average. I did great in my BSN classes but the core classes, not so much. I will say this, if I can pass NCLEX, anyone on here can! My goal was to just think through each option and move forward. There were times where I felt that I was just taking a guess but I was hoping it was a good educated guess.

I wish you all luck!

Congrats! I know your glad to have it over with. It's crazy how one test can make us feel. I took mine on Wednesday and praying I passed too!

I hope you pass! I wish you luck :D

Congratulations! Just a quick question, I'm taking my nclex-rn on Feb. 19 and was wondering what are erase boards?

Would be great if we're allowed to bring something like a pen and blank piece of paper, because doodling and drawing random stuff always helps calm me down.

Mongy, see the National Council of State Boards of Nursing website - https://www.ncsbn.org/2914.htm

"You may not bring in paper or writing instruments for this computer-administered exam. An on-screen calculator and erasable note board/marker for making notes will be provided."

Thanks for the quick response! i would be more than happy to doodle with a marker lol :x3:

The erase boards are like white boards that are used instead of paper and pen. They provide those for you in case you need to write stuff down.

Congrats Nurse!! I hope to be successful when I test in 3 weeks
