I'm reading about everybody passing at 75. Well, I felt really confident when I went in to test today. I had done so well with the books and study questions and CD's including Saunders. Yeah, just ask me about an ABG or calculation question, or most anything except maybe peds, I could tell you.
I was so dumb I couldn't find the # of questions when the computer shut off. It shut off after 4 hours. I think I got some of the questions right but so many seemed liked "who the ?X!## put these questions in here?"
After about 3-1/2 hours I was just getting thoroughly irritated and just wanted the D........... computer to shut off. Why was it taking so long with so many questions. I"M NOT STUPID! I mean I still did my best.
I just can't believe so many of these questions seemed not knowledge based, (I did see some though). Of course, I think I failed.
They were just nothing like all the reviews questions on the CD's.
What do you all think?
Hi, It seemed like my test was VERY similar to yours. Some time after the beginning, I started getting tons of priority questions straight in a row, (and I thought I was pretty good with those) and then all of a sudden it changed and I started getting different questions towards the end. I only got 2 simpleton math questions and a lot of "what the ??" I guess that's why I left my calculator on and waited for the onslaught of calculations that didn't come and didn't see the number of questions I got. The fact that it took me over 4 hours kind of worries me. But it's strange that it seemed so similar to yours. I guess it's natural to try and second guess every little thing. Thanks for your support and thinking of me.
I took mine almost 7 years ago in Sacramento and still remember feeling as you do when I walked out. I cried all the way back to my friend's house.
It is the most ridiculous test - as I've said before "pick the least stupid answer".
I was very frustrated . . . thinking that maybe going back to the 2 days of written tests might just be a good idea.
At least you could write what you know instead of guess at the wth?? questions.
I'm sure you did fine - but we really need to find these people who write the tests and knock some sense into them.
steph :angryfire

Thanks Steph: What is their point? Could you use these blankety, blankety, questions in a hospital setting? You would probably lose your license. Since I am in CA also, haven't a clue how long it will be before I find out. Thanks for your support.
I took the old test nearly 37 years ago: 2 days long, wait 6wks or so for the results. I didn't exactly cry all the way home (Long Beach to San Diego is a long drive), but I did walk in the door, tell my Dad I'd failed, he'd wasted his $, and I sure as heck wasn't gonna take it again.
I passed w/some of the highest scores in my class. (There were 6 tests, we got 5 scores ~ to SAT scores, in the 200-800 range.) One of the best students in the class (@ least she studied more than anyone else) failed.
Try to relax. Suzanne4 has a sticky on this forum--check it out!
And here are some suggestions to take your mind off NCLEX:
I walked out of the testing center thinking that I got them all wrong. Seriously. There was no confidence, no sense of "Well that wasn't so bad," no "Well I think I got THAT one right..." I sat in my car and cried for 10 minutes before I even went home. The test sucks, plain and simple. When mine shut off at 75 I thought I had done so abysmally poor that the machine gave up on me.
I think we all feel this way. Best of luck to you. When will you find out your results?

Hi:
Thanks again for your support. I haven't a clue since I am in CA. At the Pierson-Vue, they give you a pamphlet that states unequivocally, "30 DAYS." As one poster here states "that's my story and I am sticking to it." I do check the website at the BON once in awhile.
I get a feeling once in awhile that I passed (hysteria?). Well, time will tell. You will be the one of the first to know.
Best wishes to all of you graduating and taking this nutty test.

Bless your heart! What did your dad do? Poor guy. Read your thread. Yes, I did some fun things after the test and sleeping all the next day after all the stress. So now I am just trying not to think about it too much, doing things that needed to be done for so long, like get all the maintenance on my car, concentrating on my present job, tending to my faithful and loyal cacti garden, giving my apartment a real thorough cleaning (all those dust bunnies). I guess I am getting more relaxed now that I don't have that "anticipatory grieving" hanging over my head now. Besides, I've been having fun talking with all of you, telling your sometimes funny stories. You wouldn't believe how many Turner Classic movies I recorded while I was studying. Now I'm getting to enjoy them.
You can pass with 75 or 265. You can fail with the same number. Remember that each nurse taking the exam will get 50% correct and 50% incorrect. That is how the exam is set-up.Good luck with your results......please let us know how you do... :balloons:
I have no idea what you mean. "each nurse taking the exam will get 50% correct and 50% incorrect." So if you can pass or fail at 75 or 265 what does that mean? I'm sorry, I just don't understand.
Kimiesue: Isn't it just sadistic. I held the tears until I got into my car and cried all the way home. Bless your heart. But you know what, I believe we both passed. I just got this feeling.I realized the reason that I didn't see the number of questions was because I left the calculator on. Only had 2 simple math questions. You will probably get your results pretty quickly, but I am in CA, so who knows. Good luck to you honey. Please let me know how you do. You'll get yours before I do. I'll do the same.
Hi Kimiesue: Was just thinking of you. You took your test the day before I did and your are in Tennessee, do you have your results yet? Good luck!! I still don't have mine yet, of that is because I am in CA.
:) Actually Tennessee took 4 or 6 weeks when I was waiting for my results 4 yrs ago it was absolute agony. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya and good luck :innerconf Let us know when you find out.:)
