NCLEX RN I had 24 SATA!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

The exam would have made me feel like this :banghead:. But I had read Pearson's explanation of adaptive tests and I concluded that the more SATA's they threw at me, the better I must be doing.

Before too long I was jazzed to see an SATA come up :coollook: and when it shut off at 75 I walked out feeling like "that's it?"

Don't know if I passed yet, but I have a friend who had 22 SATA and she passed at 75.:yeah:

My primary study tactic was doing as many Saunders practise tests I could force myself to do. I took it easy the nite before the test and went out to eat at a comfortable restaurant with my husband.

I also noticed that even if the question seemed like "you gotta be kiddin' me, no *******' way, nobody taught us that!" If I took the time to look at everything and think about it, there was a clue in the question sentence to help me find the answer. Of course, I could have gotten them wrong too. Who knows? :chuckle

I was told that you were only given 20 SATA....I am here to tell you that it is not true!!! I had way more than that and it was horrible. I am just relieved that it is over.

I studied Saunders for about 4 weeks. Did approximately 100 questions every other day. I tried to do 100 questions in each of the contents, but have to say I did not succeed in finishing them all.

I was getting scores anywhere between 72 to 84% on Saunders. (My ATI scores were worse but I did great on the final ATI NCLEX predictor.)

I did all the alternative question formats in Saunders and while I was still in school I did everyone of the ATI practise exams.

To me it seems more about using your basic knowledge in nursing to think about what the answers to the questions should be. I would study books and chapters on NCLEX question formats...so you understand the "game" of it. Then practise taking the questions on computerized exams that give you get imediate feedback on your answer, over time, thru positive reinforcement, you will be "trained" subconciously on how to use your knowledge to answer NCLEX questions correctly. (at least answer them correctly more than 50% of the time.)

Hey I took my Nclex today, and almost started crying because my test was completely Full of "select all that apply" questions. I didn't count the actual number but it was close to 30 of those questions. I also got a handful of med calculations, pharmacology, and priority and delegation. My test turned off at 75..... I don't see how I could have passed.... I know that I didn't get the vast majority of the "select all that apply" questions right. Also I thought the test was supposed to ease you in, my test started with like 10 "select all that apply in a row" I'm freaking out! Does anyone have any words of wisdom????????:o

Apilorasi,

I'll bet you your favorite beverage that you passed. You may have gotten 10 SATAs in the beginning because they were throwing the 15 non-counting questions at you in the beginning.

If you got loads of SATAs, under my theory, and you cut off at 75, then you passed.

I just took the exam and had the same thing! I must have had 20-25 Sata's (which I know I tanked on all of them) in addition to another 20 questions that I had no clue as to what the answers were (I looked up about 10 and know I got them wrong)? Then, whammo!, the computer goes off at 80 questions? I feel like I failed...... and want to throw up.

If I was doing so poorly wouldn't they have given me more questions that were easier? I can't say that I am confident that I got any right of the 80? For a little while they got a tiny bit easier (which I took as a bad sign), but never got "easy". Wouldn't they have gotten easier if I was doing badly? :argue::argue:

Thanks Tempus Fegut. I really need the words of encouragement. I still feel like I'm in an absolute daze, It seems really surreal! Never in my worst nightmare would I have thought that I would get 5 sata's let alone 25 or more! I can't peel myself away from the computer, I keep on checking the Brn website for my results even though they probably won't be there until Monday. My favorite beverage is red wine and I'm about to share a bottle with my husband to ease my Nclex pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:argue::(:chuckle

I took mine today and had at least 10 or so SATA, 3 math questions and one of those "click on the body" ones. A lot of basic stuff I think I missed. I may have to do this over.

That's how I feel bamaRNguy. So, you had lots of Sata's too? How many questions did you take?

I guess there is no consensus on whether or not Sata's mean you are doing well. ANy ideas?

Hey guys - just wanted to update since I just found out my test results and I always want to know how things turned out for posters who were so worried after the NCLEX.

Anyway, I passed ! I really felt like there was no way that I could have passed that test with all of those SATAs but I did ! Yay !

Oh my goodness, so glad I saw this site to remind me when I take the test that harder questions are a good thing!!! Thank you guys!! :)

SATA questions are not necessarily of a higher category. They are only a format of question style and nothing more than that.
