NCLEX RN I had 24 SATA!!!

Published

The exam would have made me feel like this :banghead:. But I had read Pearson's explanation of adaptive tests and I concluded that the more SATA's they threw at me, the better I must be doing.

Before too long I was jazzed to see an SATA come up :coollook: and when it shut off at 75 I walked out feeling like "that's it?"

Don't know if I passed yet, but I have a friend who had 22 SATA and she passed at 75.:yeah:

My primary study tactic was doing as many Saunders practise tests I could force myself to do. I took it easy the nite before the test and went out to eat at a comfortable restaurant with my husband.

I also noticed that even if the question seemed like "you gotta be kiddin' me, no *******' way, nobody taught us that!" If I took the time to look at everything and think about it, there was a clue in the question sentence to help me find the answer. Of course, I could have gotten them wrong too. Who knows? :chuckle

Congrats! And how fabulous that you left the test feeling great! I had 19 SATA and felt like I had failed because of it. (But I didn't) Yaaaay and have fun during the wait!

sorry,what is SATA?

its a new test format, which means SELECT ALL THAT APPLY.

Sadly, I had not read a review of what to expect on the NCLEX. I took the test on the 3rd and left feeling like a complete failure.

I started with a moderately challenging question and then went directly to SATA after that one. They would come at me 3-4 in a row and the ?'s that were of the multiple choice variety were few and far between. When they did occur they were delegation, prioritizing care, and ONE dosage calc. What was up with that? It was worded tricky, but I caught on to the curve ball they were trying to throw at me and I believe I answered it correctly. It was my only one....sad since they are easy.

I stumbled upon this discussion board that evening and it was a blessing. I found out that the higher level ?'s were a good thing, but I still felt as though I failed so I immediately started planning how I would study for the next test. I read lots of posts and decided that next time would be different. I would demand my study time from my family, refuse overtime at work (I landed my dream position and didn't want to rock the boat), and actually study more than 2-4 hours for 4 day like this past time. I will add that I did not have the money to take a review class so I really felt ill prepared. A lot of things were happening in my life that were stressful and I didn't realize that I could reschedule if it wasn't an emergency :banghead: but apparently you can. I am normally one of those people that informs themselves of all the pertinent details, but my life has been crazy lately.......

Guess what....I just received my results and I PASSED!!!!!!! Unbelievable....only by the grace of God did this happen because the test was so brutal!! All my study plans are canceled for a week or two until they sign me up for more classes at work. :lol_hitti

Will keep you and all our June test takers in my thoughts and prayers. It is good to know that others are out there who know our pain!

Feisty, that's a good story. I'm sorry you had to stress. Unfortunately, adaptive tests are designed in such a way that they make people who normally due well on exams feel horrible.:bluecry1:

I just read a post where the test taker had 30 SATA! She passed. And I'd say she was doing extraordinarily well on the test.

Unless I hear otherwise from some one, I think anyone who gets lots of SATAs and cuts off at 75 can feel confident that they passed.

I probably won't know for sure if I passed till Monday or Tuesday. But I'm not stressing. I'm enjoying!!! :jester: Today, I'm going out to lunch with my nursing school friends, one who is taking the NCLEX right now!!

Good luck everybody!:heartbeat

OMG, I took NCLEX on Tuesday, I only had 75 questions and I finished in 1.5 hrs. I felt like I knew nothing when I left, I have cried for 2 days, I found out this morning I am a R.N. :yeah: I want everyone to know I thought I failed for the last 2 days. I had 10 SATA!!! 2 Math. Good luck to everyone who is waiting and going to take.

I just took the NCLEX this morning and fully 1/3 of my questions were SATAs. Tempus, I sure hope you're right that it meant I was doing well because I left there feeling like there was no way that they could figure out if I'd be a safe nurse or not...I only had a few drug calc questions, lots of infection control issues, and about 6-7 drug questions. Only really one question on a disease process and several "who would you see first". Anyway, I feel like I'm in shock and I guess I'll know what's next in a few days.

Best of luck to those with the test still to come !

Dg...What did you use to study? I take mine in the morning.

I used mostly Saunder's but also did a lot of Mosby questions and did chapters from the Illustrated guide to the NCLEX-RN. The best thing I did for myself the night before the test was dinner and a movie though ! Good luck. Keep us posted.

:yeah:congratulations!:yeah: how long did you do saunders, what scores were you making, how many questions per day?

Hey I took my Nclex today, and almost started crying because my test was completely Full of "select all that apply" questions. I didn't count the actual number but it was close to 30 of those questions. I also got a handful of med calculations, pharmacology, and priority and delegation. My test turned off at 75..... I don't see how I could have passed.... I know that I didn't get the vast majority of the "select all that apply" questions right. Also I thought the test was supposed to ease you in, my test started with like 10 "select all that apply in a row" I'm freaking out! Does anyone have any words of wisdom????????:o
