The closest community college to me has a rate of about 75%..and the state average is 84%.
the second closest has a pass rate of 87%..they are about 60 miles from my house.
In your opinion is 75 way to low to be a good school?
what is your schools pass rate?
I must not have looked at the chart that well...because this school is actually NOT the lowest in the state...there are a few scoring in the 60's and even in the 40's! YIKES
These are my schools pass rates 2004-2009
73.93
80.43
74.19
84.78
71.11
75.68
i realize these still arent the best pass rates..but looking at how much other schools are fluctuating in my state..going from 100's to 70's the next year or vice versa...Im starting to think the pass rate really IS what the students themselves put into it.
My school's pass rate was 96.6% with 41% retention and a 78% pass cut-off for all nursing courses. That's for the ADN program. The LPN program's pass cut-off is the same, but the retention is higher at 75% and the pass rate lower (not much lower though) at 95.8%. I don't mind the low retention rate. So far, I'm among a small handful of students at the top of the class. Unless something catastrophic happens, it is unlikely to affect me.
My general impression is, 90-100% is decent, 80-90%...proceed with caution,
I think a school with an NCLEX pass rate that is lower than 84% should not be considered EVER. Nclex pass rates ARE a big deal because it tells you HOW great the program is at teaching its students to pass the NCLEX. Passing the NCLEX-RN is your main objective in nursing school and if at the end of the day their pass rates for the Nclex is low. The program is not as strong as you thought.
From 2007, my university's NCLEX pass rate was a 91.9%. Which is quite good for a school that is 10 min. away by car and sitting in one of the most dangeous cities in the U.S.
