NCLEX March 2012

Published

Hi all!

Just seeing if there are any March 2012 NCLEX takers out there! I have been studing so hard for the past 2 months and finally got my ATT from my school, so I am registered to take my test the first week in March! I am so excited and nervous about taking it... excited about *hopefully* passing and nervous about the whole testing process! I am just ready for this to be over with so I can move on with my life and start my nursing career! What have you guys been studying? Any former NCLEX takers wanna give any insight? All replies are appreciated! Good luck to everyone!:nurse:

Hi! I'm going to test on Mar 9. This will be my 2nd try. I've used Saunders, PDA and Kaplan Strategies. Now I'm working w/ Exam Cram CD, Kaplan Qtrainers, my flashcards, Davis Pharm and NCSBN. God bless us in our exams. Praying for a positive result. :) Keep on studying and praying. We can do this!

My exam is scheduled for March 12th and I am so anxious! I took the Kaplan course and I have been reviewing all the online lectures and following along with the book. My goal is to finish question trainers 4-7 next week and do at least 100 questions a day from the Qbank until I take the boards. Goos luck everyone!

I took the NCLEX RN on Thursday and just found out that I passed. I studied the same way for the LPN and the RN by using Saunders CD. I tried to do at least 50 questions a day and up to 100 if I had the time. Too many resources muddy the water and make it confusing so I stuck to this one and I passed both tests on the first try with the minimum amount of questions. Look at the Saunders rationals when you get a question wrong and pretty soon you'll get to know most everything. Go through all the SATA questions on the CD. If you do this right up until the day of the test you'll pass easy enough. Funny thing though, I thought the LPN test was a lot harder than the RN. Good luck and try and stay calm!

I second the Saunders

exam cram cd and its little tear out guide, Saunders CD and maybe read the book if you need refreshing, and Kaplan Qbank...last but not least, prayers and good nights sleep before the test..i also found the study guide on this site that was made by others is good too..good luck!

I have a question to MTHANDED.

Are NCLEX questions so easy as in Saunders??? Because in Saunders it looks like only one right answer when you do their questions.

SoI took the NclexThursday and I failed I will be repeating it the 1st week of April. Other than Saunders any other suggestions

I have a question to MTHANDED.

Are NCLEX questions so easy as in Saunders??? Because in Saunders it looks like only one right answer when you do their questions.

i thought so too first time around, i was doing so good with Saunders and i was so confident when i walked in the exam room but i did not pass...so i use Saunders to make sure i understand the content, Nclex questions are mostly critical thinking questions, and many times all or some of the answers are right, but what you do first...priority!!!!

i believe that nclex makes it easier to narrow it down to 2 possible answers. from there you make/ choose the best answr. remember:

- Assess before u implement

-Don't ask why

-RN cannot delegate teaching or assessmt

- Take care of pt before takng care of equipment

- Use Maslow to determine priority: physical or Psychosocial

- ABC's

- Meds are a last resort to control pt's agitation

and think: If I can only do 1 thing and go home, what would it be? Think Safety!

this was all taught by Kaplan and what I used to pass my nclex the 1st time.

good luck

PRE-EXAM PHASE

>I surf the net for me to have an in depth study research on how to kill the monster and luckily it leads me to " ALLNURSES.COM" where i've read lots of testimonies and also diff. approaches. I've found the famous pdf study guide file (i didn't read this coz it is too much memo for me)...spiderman.. how to do pvt...diff experiences etc..

> I gathered all my sources and cluster the threads the i've read. Since i failed the first time i know what's the closest possible material for q and a and content which will be most appropriate.for my review:smokin:

exam cram- too broad and it is as if it is as if the treatments are focus on medical tx not on nsg tx

saunders- has easy questions, too detailed that your mind tend to be bombarded by too much info which results to forgetting the most impt. ones hihi

> MY SOURCES that worked for me:

1. kaplan videos - i find this so helpful in striking priority questions, also good for content and strategies and infos about the exam perse. try to study most especially the q and a portion. I studied my content here, and i usually study content before doing the CD- ROM Q and A

2.i have a small notebooks where i wrote all the "MUST MEMORIZE" nursing content. the ff. were. immunization, lab values, drug therapeutic level, ecg changes about electrolytes imbalances e.g presence of U wave in hypokalemia, erikson stages,DM insulin peak duration onset and examples of each, reflexes SPIDERMAN (must have):redlight:. i made this so handy that i was reading it whenever my mom and i go to the mall, watching tv or going outdoors hehe

3. La Charity (must have) :redlight:- this is also one of the book that helped me. what i did here was, i separated each responsibility that a nurse, physician, uap, cna, lpn can do.

4.NCLEX 3500 -In all of my CD-ROM Q&A the closest nclex drill for me is this material...this is the last source that i did while waiting for my ATT to the day before my exam. my strategy here is to ans. all of the 3500 questions (yeah the lazy boy gone so diligent lol) you need to be discipline in following your things to do list so that your day will be much productive. I used the nclex 3500 setting it up to "review mode" classifying it into:

content # of items

management of care 322

safety and infection control 298

health promotion and maintenance 492

psychosocial integrity 444

basic care and comfort 284

pharma and parenteral therapies 649

reduction risk potential 535

physiological adaptation 589

i'm doing 300q per day.. in review mode..don't forget to read the rationale :redlight:even you've got the ans right.I finished it for 8 days i think...i just did 123 questions in pharma ahahah coz i am relying to the content that the kaplan video had taught me

NOTE : if you feel that you had enough..take a rest... ask for me ,i jog when i am so stressed already and play some groovy music in youtube and also eat my favorite foods (don't starve because your brain needs glucose and you need that while reviewing)

night before exam,i can't really sleep because of my hightened anxiety...but i played some music of mymp to fall asleep. (mymp is a duo wherein the female vocalist has a soothing voice that can make you fall asleep haha lol)

I second the listening to music when your taking time off from your review. As much as you'd like to learn everything, that will be impossible and you will tire out your brain. So, make sure you also tend to relax. Don't overdo things. Anything in excess (or in shortage) will always be bad. :) I also like MYMP music, plus Adele, Jack Johnson and Chicane. Sometimes, a little bit of Mozart, Beethoven and of "UP" movie soundtrack God bless all test-takers out there!! WE can do this!!
