I think you can miss the last one and still pass if you were above the passing line. I took mine this morning and it shut off at 75 questions. The majority of my questions were prioritization, SATA, and alternate format. I've done the PVT twice and have gotten the good pop up both times so I hope it's accurate.
No a SATA is not indictive of a higher level passing question. It is an alternate formate question..nothing more, nothing less.
A SATA can be looking for content related answers, and content is lower level/below passing level questions. A SATA can be looking for an answer that is related to higher level/at or above passing level. So you can see, having SATAs doesn't automatically mean passing level.
You can miss the last question and still pass..unless you run out of time before the computer can determine one way or the other the passing/failing status. With that scenerio, you have to have your last 60 questions at or above passing level.
Guys due to my anxiety i just checked now the PVT, pearsonvue trick, and i went unto submit button and it was said, "OUR RECORDS INDICATE THAT YOU HAVE RECENTLY SCHEDULED THIS EXAM. ANOTHER REGISTRATION CANNOT BE MADE AT THIS TIME". is this the Good pop up you are talking about guys? to those you have done this before that had pass, is this the same thing appear when you tried the PVT? pls response anyone. thank you so much
Level of difficulty is based upon Bloom's taxonomy and other evidenced based methods. There is no way for a typical candidate to determine (guess) whether a particular question is higher or lower difficulty level. All question types (including alternate format--SATA, drag & drop, hot spot, etc and traditional multiple guess) are available in higher and lower difficulty levels based upon taxonomy. There is absolutely no direct correlation between number of alternate format question types and prediction whether a candidate passed. You can pass or fail with minimum or maximum questions and any number of traditional or alternate format questions.
Great it sounds like you got the good pop up. I can't really say about the questions..when I took mine I had hard questions ..I had easy questions..but my last questions was different then any question...so who really knows .I failed with 105 questions ...failed with 205 questions...It's about knowing how to break down the questions and picking the answer they want..for the question.

hi everyone, i just finest taking my nclex exam this january 6 2015 8am. new york time, and I'm quite anxious now about the result, this is my 2nd take and hoping will be the last, I stop at number 80, and i got a lot of SATA approximately 15 SATA for the whole exam, and the last 10 items of the exam i have 4 to 5 SATA which I think the exam was getting really hard at the end, intact my no. 79 is SATA, but I'm quite frighten with my last no. cause its only asking the complication of certain disease, but its not quite common topic in schools, My concern is, how reliable it is that when you finish the exam with a quite difficult question you got a higher chance of passing, and is SATA question really considered as a difficult question or above passing level? since a got a lot on the last 10 items, As i remember, my no. 75,77 and 79 is data. Hope to hear some feedback from you guys, specially to those who exactly have the same experienced as mine and already got their result. thank so much. HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE.
