PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

How true is your researched information on the PVT? No verbal harm intendes Im a recent pn grad and i sat for my boards yesterday and it says my results arent available but it did let me go all the way to the cc page :-( . My computer shut down at 85 questions and of course like most I am a complete mental wreck. I definitively felt like i failed just because it cut off so soon

If you peruse the NCLEX forum, you will find many stories of people who have paid 200 dollars and have passed.

This "new" trick is NOT new; I had to do the "trick" that way; I have been licensed for two years now.

Hopeful, Everyone is getting the credit card page today, so it does NOT mean you failed! The computer can shut off anytime between 85 and 205 for PN and 75-265 for RN. The number of questions does not indicate pass or fail.

If you are in a state that participates with quick results, pay the $7.95 when you results are available. You will continue to see results not available for 48 hours, that is normal for everyone

This is a link to the new PVT: https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/pearson-vue-trick-944316.html

Step 1 appears to be the CC page. No funds transfer happens yet.

Step 2 appears to be some kind review info page. (The new PVT shows here) Clicking submit will advance you to step 3... funds get transferred...

Step 3 is probably the payment confirmation page, telling you funds have been taken.

This stinks, but as mentioned before its not surprising. They were missing out on lots of $$$. For my PN I paid for those results.. It's hard to wait, but we have it good. Back in the day they had to wait a heck of a lot longer.

I can't tell you how happy I am to see this post! I took my exam yesterday morning. Came home and did the test and got the good pop up (all afternoon into the evening) only to find that after the update, I went to the credit card page! I've been sick with anxiety all day over it. I am not going to go so far as to see if it accepts my $200 for a new test or stops me (the new new pvt) but I am happy to know I'm not the only one getting the CC screen today. There's still hope!

If you got the good popup before PV did the maintenance, chances are VERY good you passed!

Pearsonvue just made the trick harder. If you failed they will charge you the $200 and you will be forced to retake it. It's a a revenue stream for them. If you passed no harm done as the pop up goes up and and it won't charge you the $200. The fact that you are now forced to enter your cc info whether you pass or not is a show stopper for most.

I would never repay without getting my "actual" results. Luckily I did get the good pop up, and it put my mind at ease, but I knew I wasn't out of the ball park yet. In my state I was lucky enough to have my license number posted about 24 hours later, so I never even payed for the quick results. I figured looking at my license number was good enough?

Some states are very quick with results and you may not need to pay the 'early notice' fee. My license number and status was on my BON website 18 hours after I finished my test.

I just took mine and my status says " Results not available" instead of "delivery successful". and they let me go through credit card.
