Hi Everyone :)
Just wanted to start a thread for everyone that's applied to the Navarro College ADN-RN program starting Fall 2012.
Figured we needed a place to post, ask each other questions etc. while waiting on our acceptance letters..... I was told they won't be sent out until the end of May. Has anyone else heard otherwise?
This is a gentle reminder.....the selling and buying of books is considered advertising\solicitation and is against the Terms of Service

Esme12- I don't believe we were selling or buying books here, we were simply discussing when we can purchase books at our campus bookstore. Also, when RaeAnn04 was edited above, I believe she was replying to me, and my username is mrskennedy.
Hope we're not causing too much trouble, we're just discussing our excitement of getting into nursing school and also trading information that is pretty hard to come by at our school.
@Makey, the drug testing has to be paid for by the orientation date so that we can put the receipts into separate boxes (make copies and keep them, just in case the record is lost). Other than that I don't know much more about that.
@mrskennedy, hopefully the orientation will be majority "handouts", as we'll have lots to go over with limited time (it's a busy busy schedule for the day). :) The paper I got said to have plastic inserts for papers handed out, yet also to bring pen/pencil...a mix of writing and handouts maybe? haha
@Raeann, I asked her about it, and she showed me a multi-paged calendar-like schedule. :) It has what days we'll do certain classes/skills, what books we'll need for that day, what times, etc. I think we might get that on orientation day. It's quite elaborate, and depending on the number of faculty we have, is bound to change. :)
No trouble! Just to remind everyone about books and supplies. We have ALL been those new excited students and I completely understand everyone's excitement but there have been some posts asking to purchase books/supplies etc and this is just a gentle reminder for everyone.
MrsKennedy it was reply to you...my bad .......but there have been many edits of the faculty names from posts.
CONGRATULATIONS to you ALL on your acceptance to nursing school!!!
GOOD LUCK to you all!!!!
Thanks y'all! And Esme sorry that was my fault didn't realize that about the books. Thanks for the reminder.
Can't wait for my appt and orientation, so I know what to expect.
 no worries....Good Luck! If any of you all need help don't forget the student help forum there are several of us who frequent there to help students!
So what is the deal with Fin. Aid department. The fall semester starts in about 6 weeks and they still have no idea when the refunds will be given, but least the did say my FA was approved and sent me copy of award letter. That is one less thing I have to worry about.
Anywho.... I was thinking of using a digital voice recorder to record lectures (with instructor permission) during this semester when I am sure my brain will be feeling overwhelmed. Has anyone tried recording a lecture on one, does it work ?? I have never used one.
Makey, I didn't do the recording, but this girl that was in my A&P I and II classes did it. I believe she had a busy life at home (maybe children, jobs, etc). If anything, the recording is taking what you need to know in class for a time when you can concentrate a bit more. You know, in class it's reviewing what you're supposed to have read, and then going over what you're gonna do next. So if you record the lecture you can take it home and listen even more intently while having all the time in the world to read and reread until you understand. :) I haven't ever used it (not how I learn, I guess...I'm more visual than auditory), but I'm sure it is beneficial. Do you know what kind of learner you are?
Tick Tock....getting nervous yet??
How is everyone doing?? Any questions??
I see that a fellow classmate of mine is also on here answering questions as well....I wonder who mom2be is haha
anyway you guys and gals can reach me on here or on my yahoo account [email protected] if you have any questions.
the summer II semester just started and we just met our brigde students....things are fast and furious right now haha
Hey Josh, was wondering when you were gonna pop up again! I'm sure you've been beyond busy lately, but I'm so glad we have someone who's a step ahead of us to give us a little advice. I guess my only question for you right now is this.. In my last A&P class I had a classmate tell me that the bridge students looked down upon the generic students (he was an LVN and wanting to bridge) because us generics supposedly "know it all." So, has there been any conflicts between students or is everyone pretty helpful? I'm really not all that worried about what others think of me and my decision to go straight to RN instead of taking the LVN bridge, but I was just curious to know if he was right or just blowing smoke.
I'm definitely nervous, but much more excited, I know my success depends soley on myself and I've worked too hard not to make it!

Thanks for the info tim! I guess I should order my kit almost forgot! :/
Makey I think they do it randomly during the semester.
MrsKennedy we can't buy book or anything until 10 days before class starts.
Tim did they say anything about our schedule this semester?
