Hi Everyone :)

Just wanted to start a thread for everyone that's applied to the Navarro College ADN-RN program starting Fall 2012.

Figured we needed a place to post, ask each other questions etc. while waiting on our acceptance letters..... I was told they won't be sent out until the end of May. Has anyone else heard otherwise?

Perfect! THANKYOU!!

I know I was a little put out w the m- f too. Gonna be hard to leave my baby that much. But not sure, but that's what she told my friend that went in and talked to her about the scheduling. Like I said I guess we will just have to see what she says aug 1.

Good to know that info about the shoes and coat. Thanks!

I'm trying to think of anything else I had to buy at first. A large binder to hold the massive amounts of paperwork, a clipboard when you start clinicals.... They provide almost everything else.

The only time your schedule will be Mon-Fri will be during your summer 2 semester after your freshman year. I'm sure they want you to block out that much time so you are more flexible to the clinical schedules, but you will not go 5 days a week. Even in the very beginning, you have to do skills checkoffs first and those start in the second week of class. They can't do everyone in one day, so you will get at least one day off.

Thanks for the info! Good to know!

Thank you mom!!!!!!!!! :) It's wonderful to have this info. I would've completely left out the clipboard and what the $160 "kit" was comprised of. What were clinicals like for the first semester?

I think there were only 3 clinical days at the nursing home that first semester.

Mom - Your information is so greatly appreciated. We've been so in the dark about what to expect/buy/not to buy! I think we all just want to be as prepared as possible. Any tips/tricks or just general information you can give us will be so helpful.

As far as the schedule goes, I was looking forward to not having to drive as far every single day, but whatever it is I'm just going to suck it up and go with it. It'll all pay off in the end.

RaeAnn - I know the feeling about leaving your baby. For the past year and a half, while taking my prerequisites, I've taken almost everything online. My little one is now 2 and I have no idea how she's going to feel when I'm not with her most of the day. It's probably going to be rough, but I'm sure we will all adjust.

It's totally do-able, it just takes dedication. I have 5 children, ages 6-12 and a husband that works full time. If I can do it, anyone can! ;)You'll make some great friends and you'll have this amazing "ah ha" moment when it will all just click.

I enrolled my bubba in daycare today to reserve his "spot". He will be 2 on Friday and it's a bit overwhelming for me :'( I get all emo just thinking about it... We are together 24/7 and it's gonna be SO HARD to be away from him. I just keep telling myself that it's all for the best and that our future will be brighter because of it. ((hugs mamas))

Mom- How was it like for the spring semester. Do you think it was easier or harder, and how was the scheduling? I home school my son and am trying to figure out how I am going to schedule his curriculum over the next year.

2nd semester was harder as far as schedules go. There were 8 clinical days and 4 simulation labs.
