Hi Everyone :)
Just wanted to start a thread for everyone that's applied to the Navarro College ADN-RN program starting Fall 2012.
Figured we needed a place to post, ask each other questions etc. while waiting on our acceptance letters..... I was told they won't be sent out until the end of May. Has anyone else heard otherwise?
I don't like that schedule either. Lol. Thanks for the info! :-) I was chosen for "verification" as well for fa. I had to get my tax transcript from the IRS?!? I didn't even know what that was. I hope that it is here soon, so that I can submit it and hopefully it will be approved soon enough to go towards my classes before Aug. 1. Wondering what they do if classes aren't paid for before orientation?
I knew what a transcript was lol because I was a tax preparer... You could have just went back to your fafsa and chose to "transfer information from IRS" that's all I did. It's easier and instant. I don't think it matters if classes are paid by orientation day- what does matter is that they are paid by the 1st day of class. The "not needing all the books" thing doesn't bother me because I love textbooks (nerd, I know) and am happy to have them all :) I just don't understand how 8 credit hours justifies mon-fri workload. I emailed the dept for verification of actual days and class times because I need to register my son for daycare now to secure his spot for August. Maybe I'm just being a complainer... LoL I don't wanna be in school alllll week. Oh well. Such is life.......
Red, if you need any help with English Comp, feel free to ask. :) I made an outline template and I have papers I did that could help with the theses (the hardest part of any paper).
That new schedule is gonna be very unexpected for others in the nursing program that haven't received this info yet. Maybe they should send a mass email explaining this to everyone so that the rest can plan how they're gonna get through the first 6 weeks. It's a big roller coaster, and I just wanna be ready for the ride!
Thanks Tim!!! I'm sure I will be needing a lot of help.... I agree... I think it's only right for everyone to be informed of the schedule changes etc. The dept emailed me back this morning stating that hey forwarded email on to the lady in charge of the schedules... Hopefully I get an answer later today or tomorrow. When I get an answer I'll let y'all know.
Hey guys! I'm a sophomore in the program right now and I can answer some of your questions. It's not a 5 day week, it will change constantly, but Thursdays are always lecture days from 8:30-4:30, Wednesdays are test days, usually only a couple of hours in the morning. Until you start clinicals, Monday or Tuesday will be for skills checkoffs. You will be assigned one of those days, but not both. Friday is usually an "off" day unless you want to go into the lab and practice for the next skills check off.
Shoes-any shoe is fine as long as it's not backless or has mesh. It doesn't have to be 100% white or 100% black, but just MOSTLY one of those colors. I don't think anyone has gotten in trouble over shoes.
Lab coat-purchase any lab coat you want, as long as it's white. It won't have any logo on it. I've never worn mine, so you might want to wait.
The $160 lab kit-it has all of the supplies you'll need for skills check offs practice-IV kit, catheter kit, etc.
I can't remember any more of the questions, but let me know if there's anything I can help with. Good luck! :)
The BON books-they told us we needed to buy the print copy. It's too long to print out yourself and it's referenced in several lectures and tests. This is up to you. I think there are several in our class that didn't buy the actual books and they were fine.
E-books can be purchased for Apple products only, they won't work on Kindle's or any other device. This is really annoying and we let the sales rep know it last semester when she came to speak during one of the lectures. Maybe this has changed since February, but I'm not sure.
